[WIP] Forum PSD Design

Not done with it yet xD But I do plan to keep it very simple. The necessary to make a quick reply.

 

I like the postbit/showthread page. Something about it just looks awesome.

Other than that, I am not really digging it very much. First off, the "Reloaded" text on the logo is extremely difficult to read. Progressing down the page, the grey logo background (with the girl to the right) suddenly changes to a very busy backdrop (IMO the page should flow, it shouldn't be disrupted like that) that takes up a ton of screen real estate.

I bet you could have something great if you worked on design flow. There are some areas of the design that are very busy and others that are very empty, and the transitions from busy to simple seem to be very abrupt (header to the collage of anime characters).

If I were you (as someone who loves anime), I would go off the whole idea that anime lovers like the busy graphics look and really make the design full of characters from different mangas/anime series. I know the whole design concept of KISS has been a guiding factor in website design for ages, but I figure with the amount of bandwidth most people have nowadays that you could probably get a little more intricate with your design.

 

The only reason some areas are empty are because I need time to duplicate some tools that I'd need to make it look like a real forum. Still not done! xD More to come I was planning on changing the reloaded text, which wouldn't be hard at this point.

Only reason why I don't make the design full of anime characters is because likes differ, a LOT. I'd like to keep is as simple as possible, for me to be able to make "anime of the month" contest and redesign the forum to look like the "anime of the month".

There is hate on the anime industry. Like I dislike with a passion FullMetal Panic!, so I'd reduce the hate to just a simple design.

And surprisingly I have designs that are heavier than this and I've had no problems.

Again, where Megurine Luka is [the octopus girl] it's supposed to be rotating.

I'm particularly fond of the positioning of the postbit - somewhat disconnected from the actual message area, but not entirely.

 

Funny enough AA gave me this idea xD I used to love the horizontal postbit, I have to say now I dislike it quite a bit.

 

So the users asked, "Fmb, how easy would it be to change from a light background to a dark one"

So I played with the template a bit to make it dark and more graphical as the users asked me.

My favorite series <3 But yeah, they kind of liked it, I still prefer the light one and I will keep working on the light one.

 

The darker version looks pretty damn sexy, as well, though.

 

It was pretty rushed x.x ;D I love the anime characters in it, my favorite part is the navigation <3

 

The dark one is very attractive! I find it a little too busy, but your demographic is probably used to all that attention-getting imagery.

 

It is busy x.x But yes, the users that were online at that time who asked me to do this told me that they love it. I personally prefer the light background better and because of this one, I got some more Anime website owners asking me to make a template for them.
