The awful layout is one thing, but you've got to admit... getting hacked definitely isn't something you want to do to get above your competition... especially when you do have that "postbit-right focus more on the post" whatever they call it. :p

Ah, you mean their "failed attempt at being unique"? :p

Regardless of the fact that phpBB is horrible, it will be around for a while thanks to its strong following.

I hate the way phpBB and SMF looks and works.

SMF probably has one of the most unique administrative interfaces that I have seen - it's out of the ordinary.

It kind of looks like you are still on the forum. Similar to a User CP but with admin control.

That's definitely one way of looking at it. I've just found it to be awkward.

I can honestly say I've never tried SMF. I don't even frequent a single forum that uses it.

SMF is a pain - it way hard to find custom designs/designers, hard to code, bah, I could go on and on about me and SMF.

It's just not as mainstream as the others, which is why It's difficult - as you said. :)

Yet it (SMF) is quite popularly used.

    I beg to differ.

In my opinion, SMF is on the bottom of "The Most Used Forum Software" list.

Yes, many people use it, but it doesn't have as great of a reputation like MyBB, phpBB, or vBulletin. Or even IPB, for that matter.

Regardless, it's quite actively used. I'm not a fan of the script myself, either.

Ugh, agreed - look at phpBB3's administrative interface. Bleh!

    You can say that again.

I really think the best forum software's are MyBB, vBulletin and Invision Power Board.
