When vB4 is released, will AA go down?

I don't know why Nick has decided to wait a very long time for vB 4. None of us will know what will happen when it's released. Sure, it could take a while - but nothing we can predict. And if it doesn't take that long to smooth out the bugs it may have and a lot of forums are beginning to upgrade and work around vB 4, I don't want to be left in the dust...

I think it would be more accurate to say we'll upgrade when it's/we're ready.

 

That's right. And it won't be ready for a long time. That's the only reason we're waiting.

If vB 4 - final version - was released tomorrow, we would *still* have to wait.
Think of the modifications - we won't have any to use. Developers will need time to re-create theirs to keep up with the re-coded vB platform. As Wayne and others have said, all styles and modifications/hacks will become obsolete with the new release.

There are so many factors that are going to put vB 4 further back in terms of being ready for live use on an active community.

This isn't like the 3.7 release where functionality won't be broken, and time will be needed to actually be able to use vB 4.
