See what happens when you use this kind of thread title, Boss? :wiggle:

I can honestly say I have never had a problem with a "debate thread" before.

    How's that snobby?

I only asked him to answer the question stated in the original post.

Doesn't seem snobby to me. :S

It did to me. Sounded kinda smart-ass-like.

Probably because of my blunt personality.

    No "smart-ass-like" attitude was intended.

    Gay.

    Happy? I'll say it again.

    Gay.

Seriously, what's with the intolerance? Homosexuality is perfectly normal, there's no reason to forbid discussion thereof. And if anyone would be offended by hearing "gay" being said, then they're just as intolerant as anyone else.

I think I may have missed the point of this thread. :V

As far as debate goes, I let the users know that any spillover is not allowed, that offensive behavior will be punished severely on such topics, and leave it at that. Debate doesn't get much action on my site anyways.

I have a separate 'politics and religion' forum for such debates, for the most part. Does not mean I won't ban trolls or unrepentant bigots.

I allow "debate" threads as long as they don't turn into personal attacks... which, unfortunately, does happen. I seem to have both ends of the judgment spectrum on my site.

I don't mind Debate Threads. I usually have a Debate forum if people are really into it. If people start attacking each other, then I will just close the thread.
