What's with TAZ?

Just had a problem at TAZ posting before. Posted a reply and went to edit it, but kept showing me a blank edit box and was posted it as another reply.

 

TAZ is fooked again, right now. They must be installing the 100,000th mod their that's gone wrong. The forum has been suffering from slow loading at times anyway these days. One minute it runs OK, next it's takes ages loading the forum homepage.

 

GTB sure your not on the naughty step and been put on the discourage mod?

Ah right, well I'm guessing they probably removed it for now. The forum came back online quick, so must have had problems installing it, probably clashed with another mod installed - seems to be a common problem that with XenForo sites using lots of mods (some clashing).

 

They have a lot of their own code too, like they did with VB, XF MOD writers like VB MOD writers don't take account of people altering the code

 

I had problem there twice today. I don't remember what is said except for the word "zend."

 

I doubt it's going to get better any time soon.

If they only had people there who knew what they were doing eh?

 

I don't doubt that they have people who know what they are doing, but you can only test so much, eventually someone will throw a curved ball, and that is what you can't test for.

 

TAZ looks to be struggling really hard to me. I see they've started adding things their (like the extended likes) that they said wouldn't come to that forum from AX. Looks to me like the forum is trying all sorts of things now to try and liven the place up again. Staff are carrying/creating threads more than ever before, see Howard/Lisa's mates have jumped on posting more often to help out (even Shelley) whom I thought hated Howard/TAZ.

This is what happens when you alienate members like Howard has with his extreme moderation tactics and filling the board with ads. Doesn't take long for a forum to die when the best people that caused discussion leave it.

 

They should have stuck with vbulletin

I was a regular poster on there, but several things got one my nerves about the place.

One was the constant VB bashing, the place became so pro XF it was unbearable, OK VB5 isn't perfect, neither is VB4, but when you dare say XF is nowhere perfect either you got slated and told basically you were an idiot.

The other reason I left was the MODs dishing out public warnings, for what were I considered a minor transgression to certain people like myself, but not being seen to do the same to other members.

They alienated me, so I left, I sincerely hope it goes down the pan, the biggest mistake Howard made was combining the two forums, and moving to XF.

That could of course be based on an entirely false perception. However the Post Ratings add-on was installed simply because the majority of users who voted in a poll wanted it installed. It's a popular add-on.

Exactly, it wouldn't be so bad if they accepted criticism of XenForo, but frankly they don't at TAZ. Even the staff, all of them are quick to jump in defending things for it "against you", I can't be doing with that and Taz has so many same similarities to how Admin Extra was run before under Lisa "it's unreal". Good luck to them, but most people can see it's just another Pro XenForo site that hates you bashing that, but welcomes you bashing everything else to try and make XenForo look as though it's the only forum solution on the planet.

Taz has cut it's own throat doing it. And if they're not careful it'll soon become another Admin Extra not getting used hardly.

 

No-one likes to read day after day that the product they have bought is useless, it's questioning peoples judgement, and no-one likes that.
VB has faults, VB5 has many I can accept that, but VB4 is STILL a better option than XF, simply on a cost basis, to have XF with all the bells and whistles that VB4 comes with would take the cost of XF above that of VB4.

Sometimes people are blind to logic.

 

That is the main reason I can't stand TAZ. It is sickening.
Xenforo really could be the best product in the world(it isn't) but the arrogance and ego of the users turns me off so much. I never understood why if your software is supposed to be King, why do you constantly need to compare it to OTHERS just to hype it up.

Let the software speak for itself without having to bash other products. I strongly considered converting my site back to XF but I am sorry, just the thought of being associated with overzealous people like that, just bugs me so much. And let you point out a flaw or lack of feature and they are ready to lynch you.

Case in point...Kier hyped up the new way to reply/quote by being able to select parts of a post to quote. Of course to XF users it is great and someone pointed out that BB has had this for years and they suddenly were all up in arms over it. Apparently it is okay to copy a feature from another software BUT when someone copies something from XF it is wrong...lol

The moderation team is alright for the most part. But i do feel like favoritism is played there.
Howard basically admitted to me, that he felt it was okay to ban me(and only me) for an argument despite the fact that I was not the only person involved. I was threadbanned and comments were allowed to still be made about me.

I don't mind being thread banned(i deserved it) but i don't appreciate being singled out when I was not the only guilty party involved. Nor do I appreciate being told it is okay to more or less judge members differently based on our age and that I as an inexperienced/younger admin should more or less kiss the ass of older admins just because.

I really wish AT(or any admin forum) could offer some good competition simply because they have a monopoly with taz and can pretty much do what they want because if you want the largest admin site, you got to go them.
