Justin, I think you should be the official "MyBB Representative" of AA with Wayne for vB. :)

If I get Tom Loveric over here from the community forums, he should be the representative, I think. In fact, both dudes can be the representatives.

And Wayne and Luke may be nice representatives for vBulletin.

Tom Loveric is no longer a MyBB team member.

I know, but he is a mentor, right?

Correct. Mentors, however, are not staff members, just a group of knowledgeable MyBB users who you can expect more reliable answers (for support) from. :)

Hence, I said he'd be good for a MyBB representative.

Maybe try to keep ontopic in this thread and only talk about vBulletin and Invision Power Board.

Thanks for sharing your concern, John, but we often encourage off-topic chatter such as that taking place in this thread. ;)

Yes I understand but I created this thread for vB & IPB discussions and would really like to have it that way. But your the boss so you decides.

I was going to certainly reply like you did Chris, but then that would have started an argument.

I think I'll go and checkout mybb shortly, I'm not sure whether I have an account on their support forums. I am curious to see their variation of this feature. At a glance it looks nice enough but though I'm not so keen on the thread listings page.

Regardless of that, thanks for the info Justin and I'll go register up to their forums in a minute.

edit: Looks like I was already registered.

Do you mean Wayne Luke or Wayne Luke and someone else named Luke?

To tell you the truth, I like IPB so much better than vB. But that might change my mind when vB 4 comes out.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's encouraged. Personally, I dislike the extensive going of off-topic in threads that aren't in the miscellaneous forum. A little fun and chatter inside the threads is fine, but when I end up going through say, two full pages of off-topic chatter, it becomes frustrating.

I hate to rain on the parade, but that's just my take on this. But since we are a bit of a laid-back community and we're a place for community administrators to not only learn, but relax and have fun, I presume there isn't much I can do about it except voice my opinion. ;)

I probably should have added "to an extent." ;) My bad.

I really like a few things about vBulletin. The AJAX QR is incredibly smooth-boards without it seem kinda clunky, you know? Inline moderation is excellent. The modding community is godlike. And finally, I love the template variables-they make customization a breeze. All in all, I love vBulletin.

I'm afraid to say that I haven't used IPB from the backend, but I didn't really like the frontend all that much as a user-it felt clunky; too much like phpBB for my tastes (I HATE phpBB).
