My situation with this ban has still not been resolved.

vBulletin is clearly in the wrong.

After my ban, which no real reason was given for, I sent a support ticket asking why I was banned. Ray Morgan gave me a form answer of repeatedly "Violating Terms Of Service."

I sent a support ticket back asking him to please let me know which parts of the Terms Of Service I violated (I didn't see anything that I violated) and to also explain why despite their claims that people are only banned after receiving multiple warnings, I was banned even though I received no warning or request to change my behavior from staff.

He didn't respond to that. Probably for the same reason that Wayne Luke has not responded to the same question here.

I have sent a follow up, but they continue to ignore it and refuse to answer these simple questions.

I have also stated that if my ban was removed, I'd only use the forum strictly for technical support since it is clear they don't want my feedback.

I don't know what more I can offer.

Wow that's horrible. If I was in your shoes, I would've left long ago and never bothered with these guys. Customers are entitled to give feedback on poor service practices, that's why they have a "Licensed Customers Feedback" forum that is private from the public. If they want to silence you, it's because they have something to hide and can't respond back with any reasonable explanation. So all they do is hide you in a corner... Very childish behaviour.

Agree 100%. I have never understood this new insisting on being "constructive". Feedback is feedback. If it's constructive, that's great. But it doesn't have to be constructive.
"I don't like the new vBulletin Skin" - that's feedback. Is it constructive? No. But it's still feedback.

To me that "constructive" is just another way of saying "don´t be harsh to us, because we can't take it."

People wouldn't be going mad like they have been if IB had done their job in communicating people instead of misleading them.

huh, cool article. and even more cool are the comments. i really appreciate this one:

and this one is even more beautiful:

it seems that the flame war has started to live its own life and everybody forgot what they're fighting for.

No I think everyone is well aware what the issues are, exept IB who still seem to be in denial and I note that so far in these exchanges they never comment on the fact that owned licence holders do not have access to updates of vb3 until its end of life, in effect they have killed off those licences where the subscription has expired.

That is true, but lately any positive comments about vBulletin are 'stupid','dumb' or 'this moron doesn't know what he/she talks about' and people who bash on vB/IB are brilliant people with over 9000 in internetz.

Umm... yes, I said that from that point forward I would not be purchasing anything else from vBulletin.

I still have active licenses with them and forums that will be hosted on 3.8 until the end of my current license... Of course I still want access to the modifications and support for my current licenses.

Hence why I said "You've lost me as a customer." Not... "That's it... this is my last post and I'm leaving this forum."

Also... anyone find it a little weird all of the sudden these people taking vbulletin's side... and joined specifically to say this stuff.

I wouldn't it put it past vbulletin to have staff sign up and try and sway the argument... After the register caught them lying about them claiming they never cut access to vb.org... when they got someone else in the company to admit that they did... who knows what this company will do.

Interesting how you quoted that stuff but none of it was actually said.

When I read some guys blog and he's trying to represent that a company is acting differently than it really is... and he is claiming to speak for everyone involved... I'm gonna call bullshit.

And come on... can anyone seriously still be taking vB's side here?

They lied on the record to The Register... does that not signify what kind of company this is?

I quoted nothing...? Just a post saying everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

As I said on another thread, YOU have your problems with IB/vB, I have none of them. You opened your mouth and said you didn't want to participate with vB no more, and you got cut, taken by your word, although it wasn't fair- you said it, they took you upon that offer.

Again, personally, my $195 were well spent, if you don't think so, oh freakin' well.

You can't be seriously trying to defend their ban decision based on a post that said "You've lost me as a customer."

I literally said in other posts (paraphrased) "I'm not going to switch any of my current licenses over, but all future purchases will not be vBulletin... and I'm going to continue posting here because of my current licenses."

If you really want to make the argument you have in the above quote, you are going to lose all credibility. You are just confirming that after they knew there was no more money piping in from me, they decided they'd rather not get the customer feedback they were requesting.

Nobody can dispute that they lied, And I can honestly say nobody can dispute what happened to you, mark and others was fair. No matter how constructive you convey your concerns across people can and will bend it around to their advantage and to their gain (this is a fact).

From one of the many articles I read they also stated that comments came from a disgruntled employee. Comeon you know, I know and anyone with a pair of balls knows they have lied, spun their words like a 2 dollar hooker gets spun on a viagra driven client because his wife lost interest years ago.

They are now coming on 3rd party admin sites, posting and trying to comfort and swaying the concerned. This tells you something right away. Personally, I find it to be pathetic but you know what they say "money is the root of all evil" and this has been prooved time again no matter who get's trampled upon.

What I find (I would have normally said hilarious) but I find pathetic that a once proud community is now in a state of uncertainty, fueding which speaks volumes and the character of the employees that stand and watch this happeneing and turn a blind eye to everything and everyone showing any type of concern.

who knows, it seems to be going from bad to worse to I'm a celebrity get me out of here.

That isn't condemning the behavior... "You asked for it" does not apply to companies. That is where your post breaks down. You say it like it at least partially justifies their actions.

Does reading text your way online justify your assumptions? Unless your heard my tone of voice you couldn't possibly know the tone I said it in.

It doesn't justify anything, banning is banning and banning unfairly is banning unfairly.

If that's what you meant, than why did you even include the part about how I asked for it?

Please guys... this is all a crock. Can't we all just get along as customers? :D vBulletin is run by a bunch of bumbling amateurs. They send out upgrade announcements that are factually incorrect ($130 upgrade to those with active licenses) and then later explain what they REALLY meant. Whoops, have we forgotten to include an offer to people whose maintenance might have recently expired? Of course not. We'll just explain we weren't going to offer (see also "screw") you but, because we are super nice guys, we're going to extend to you this last minute spontaneuos offer!!!

Then they fumble with upgrading their own forums which results in almost 2 days of downtime and rationalize about cool heads, integrated systems but a "seamless transition." Now we have "disgruntled former employees" and nobody was "banned" (well, banning someone for alleged breach of terms of use doesn't count.) blah, blah blah.

Do we really need to further discuss the endless backpedaling of this bumbling group of fools on the vBulletin executive team? I look forward to see another year of product development that is as productive and successful as this past year has been.

As FMB stated, and very well, some of you have your problems with vB/IB, and some of us don't.

I've been personally insulted by a respected member of this forum (as has EVERYONE that decided that it was in their best interest to upgrade their vB license), and that is uncalled for.

This is degrading to personal shouting matches and insult-fests.

We've had several people join THIS forum simply to make their argument about vB/IB, and once it's over, many of them will never return, if they haven't already. Why should the admins here have to take on the extra burden of disgruntled vB customers?

There are those of you that will NEVER have your minds changed, and ALL you want to do is voice your situation as loudly and consistently as possible. You're here arguing these matters simply to satisfy yourselves, and you are contributing NOTHING to the betterment of your forums nor anyone else's.

I've been trying to stay out of this. But some of us can only take so much. I thoroughly enjoy AA, and I've gained a lot of information here that I someday wish to help spread to others like me who didn't know. But the mood and conditions here are really preventing me and others from contributing USEFUL information, or even visiting here.

Leave your personal grudges at your homepage and start using AA for what it was meant for.

But the mood and conditions here are really preventing me and others from contributing USEFUL information, or even visiting here.

Leave your personal grudges at your homepage and start using AA for what it was meant for.
