    Thanks!

    While cool looking, all I saw was 30 day ticket support and no more phone support, unless I missed it.

    I'm not sure how in depth you want these types of discussions.

    Click the "Support" tab, or proceed to "Pre-Order Now" and you will see that it is still available.

    I'm not sure what you mean. :shrug:

    Well it's now $235 for the suite or $195 for just the forum, and there are no more yearly fees (as far as the 4.0 version goes).

    So it's actually much cheaper. Rather than $100/year (with leased license), it's only $195 one time. Hopefully there is no major version released in less than two years, otherwise it defeats the savings...

    You can still purchase phone support. The price is the same as it was before.

    If you purchase the forums only product, than you can add ticket support after the first 30 days as well. The Suite comes with ticket support for the life of the product. Life of the product is defined as until the next major version is released e.g. 5.0.

    i paid yearly which was £55 and the owned was £100, the forum is now £125..

    There was a reason i paid yearly because no way do i have £100 to spend..

    This is one of those times i wish i had IPB..now..

    Why is that? You're leased license is now a "vBulletin Forums" license and you will continue receiving support and upgrades until it expires. Including the vBulletin 4.0 Forums. When it expires you can purchase an upgrade license that will last until the end of the 4.0 series whether it is 2 years or 4 years from now.

    However, I really suggest you look at upgrading to the suite during the presale. You can purchase the Suite for $130.00 which is only a small amount over your previous leased license renewal and the license will be good until 5.0 is released.

    I wonder if that is why I see a lot of vbulletin forums that are open for a few months, then all of a sudden change to some other software?

    There was this one webmaster forum that I was a member of. It was running vbulletin, then almost overnight it changed to some system I had never seen before. Then there was a gaming forum this same thing happened to.

    If you want to run the software, just buy a license and be done with it.

    Im not saying im going to change, im obviously going to have to work something out, hopefuly the discount will be available for another couple of months..Their is a reason i paid for Leased because £55 is affordable yet going to £100 is a huge jump, with this discount it sorta meets half way there at £85 which i should be able to pay for at the end of the month..

    There was much heated in depth discussions a while back, that is what I was referring. Because some things were not decided it made the discussions awkward.

    Thanks! I missed it.

    2 things:
    • the order page should probably say it comes with 30 days of ticket support. Right now it says this:
      * Indefinite software license
      * Free updates for this version
      * Discounts for next version upgrades
      * Free forum support
    • the 'life of product' is meaningless because no one except vB has control over that. 'life of product' but at least X months regardless might mean something. Like buying car insurance and they won't tell you if it is for 3, 6, or 12 months when you write them a check for $1,000.
    None of my business, and I realize this is the incorrect way to give feedback, I'm just stating what I'm seeing.

    EDIT - I'm not suggesting people should be getting 5.0 when it is released. What I was trying to say is that security patches and subtle improvements to 4.0 should be supported for X months. Preferably 2 years. Based on how things are worded now 5.0 could come out in 6 months and all support for 4.0 could be terminated that day.

    Personally I'm interested in how long 3.8 will be supported because I'd like to skip 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 until things stabilize. I'm not sure vb will support 3.8 until 4.3 comes out.

    They don't seem to allow you to purchase an upgrade to the Suite yet ($130).

    Unless they're actually going to screw people over and continue with the whole, "upgrades are only available if your license expires no more than 60 days from now," thing.

    That will mean that I'll miss out on the pre-sale. :(

    Strike that. I didn't realize that I had to sign in to their NEW ordering area.

    I can choose the upgrades now. :doh:
