I think the best description of vB's current plan would probably be thus:

    underpants-gnomes-business-model.png

With Phase 1 replaced by 'make buggy forum software'.

I'm sure they want the first post to sing the virtues of how many bugs they resolved.
Never mind how many remain unresolved.

Oh how many new bugs are added, or how many of the 100's of "features" aren't implemented yet.

In context I think he meant "new" bugs. No one is claiming VB5 is bug free. It was was a pretty long conversation for twitter.

It most certainly is not bug free or even close. That's a non-starter.
24 hours later I'm still waiting for the official list of what issues the release supposedly did resolve.
Any word on that? I know Wayne is overloaded so I'm not going to be just another bug on his ass about it.

and @BirdOPrey5 I wouldn't say it was a long conversation, it was maybe 10 replies back and forth.. but then again, I'm a bit of a Twitter power user, this was a short convo in my opinion.

Out of most of the vB staff remaining you'll find Zachery to be one of the more straight-forward guys, especially from the 'old' crew. Yes, he'll be pro-vB but that his is primary employer so some is to be expected; with him I've found that the Golden Rule applies, don't be an ass to him and he'll give you straight answers when he can.

I agree, Zachery is a stand up guy and I have a lot of respect for him.

Yes, but typically it is linked to the discussion thread. As of the last time I looked it wasn't so I assumed it didn't exist. Searching for anything on vB5 is painful.

Just another way IB can only "show the good" things and hide the way users really feel about it.
I still see new threads pop up over there with titles like "I made the mistake and installed vb5" or other freelancers asking for help supporting their clients who thought vbulletin 5 was a good script and decided to upgrade.
The whole thing is just a giant lie to the public, IB spouts off like vbulletin 5 is the greatest thing since sliced bread when in actuality it's barely a forum script and upgrading from previous version will require users to lose 50% of the features they've been using for years. Hell, the signatures just now got fixed from when vBulletin took vb5 live on their own site.. How many months ago was that??

Zachery may be a nice enough guy, but I still can't understand how he's saying what he's saying here.

I mean, there are obviously still bugs, and based on ProSportsForums posts, there are some new ones too. So whatever he's saying, he's objectively wrong about this matter.

I'm just curious to whether he's simply a bit misguided or actively lying.

I would like an answer to a question that I know for fact Zachery can't answer and Wayne won't answer.
Other than hold a title, what exactly does Marjo Mercado do at vBulletin?
Director Of Technology sounds like a bullshit title for a bullshit job with a bullshit description and bullshit responsibilities.
What technology is supposedly being directed?
vBulletin 5 was released before Marjo Mercado was employed by Internet Brands so he certainly didn't direct anything through 5.0.2.
Why does Internet Brands insist upon hiring people who don't actually do anything?
Everyone and their illegitimate brother has ideas. Paying people to come up with ideas is stupid.
Pay people who actually accomplish things. Like Developers. QA. Support.

Hey now... I was director of Technology at my old job. Technically, directory of Technology and Engineering. More technically, director of Technology / Engineering as HR gave me some BS about not have the word "and" in titles. I added it anyway.

I did say "sounds like ... " It just seems like everything rests on a small number of shoulders.
