So basically, I was right... No one ever said there would be a Gold release in December.

Not sure why you are so hung up on labels, If it still said beta would it really change anything? Support was extended through June 30th so it's not expiring in 30 days after beta.

If vB5 still had the beta title, then everyone can except the quality it is in, like as in "not finished" or "not ready for use" or "still needs some work". So yeah, it would change a whole lot in terms of customer perspective about the product. It would calm down customers some too, because then IB would be working much more in line with customer expectations. Right now, there is a huge disconnect between the two.

And just a comment on the side. Customers can afford to be wise-asses and they certainly can expect to be right. Support people can't and shouldn't.

Edit: IB did anounce vB5 is "coming in 2012".

I guess it is the customer's issue and fault they thought something useful like a "gold" version was meant by "coming later this year", right? And that is another big issue IB has. Not following through at all on the BS they post in the public themselves.

And VB5 was released later that year...

.... but missing the "125 new features and enhancements", "groundbreaking innovations", " "unparalleled tools for building websites" and the "new levels of social interaction and ease of management".....

Why not just wait instead of complaint? You don't intend to run it on live site right now, so just wait. If you pay for it without checking and now regret, that's your fault.
I'm happy with 4.2 now and will still wait.

Anw, I has never got errors with vb5 when there are too many complaints. Features that vb5 promised to provide are good, they just take off beta mark too soon. Give it a chance and don't be too strict.

Personally, I never need official supports from vbulletin, what makes ppl need them so bad?

They really should have waited to put it on their official forums. One second of it was enough to make me not want anything to do with vb5 at least for now.

I like how you can't quote a post now at vb.com, or comment on a post... which btw are redundant but I'll let that pass.

Also one of my threads that shows as open will not accept my post..lol

Oh, you still can't search for your own post.. maybe it'll be fixed by vbulletin 5.1

vBulletin 5 is such a joke, it's the slowest forum software on the net right now.

Perhaps the software itself realises you're just going to say negative things about it and has pre emptively blocked you as a result.

Or maybe Internet Brands are considering banning you as well...

And this is why I still haven't upgraded to vBulletin 5. There's still a lot of issues that need to be addressed and fixed.

Wait, you're planning on upgrading to vBulletin 5 sometime in the distant future?

NO. NO. it must all be a misunderstanding, as Joe who is a staff member for VB has said that nothing is hidden on VB.com. And we all know that Joe is an honourable man.

Brandon couldn't post in the VB5 forum because he sold his VB5 license. There was a big thread here on this topic a month ago - only VB5 license holders can post in VB5 support forums.

The content remains visible to all regardless of license status.

    Another "bug" that doesn't exist.

Its a pretty stupid way to set up support forums. If someone knows the answer to a problem I'm having I want the answer. Not have them sit on their hands because they can't post in the damn forum.

It wasn't my call to make the change. I can understand the initial logic- lets not gunk up the VB5 support forums with people who don't even own a license chiming in since (usually) you would expect they can't give much actual support- but clearly there are some people who can and are willing to answer VB5 questions even if they no longer have the license.

I'm sure it will be a subject of debate for months to come, things like this aren't set in stone.

Sure the content is there but we can't see screenshots and also it's hard to work on client sites running vb5 when you need support. (thankfully most are smart enough not to run it)

    Hopefully it changes back :)
