Unread Posts modification

I had to set the cut off time to 5 days on my forum. With the setting at 10 days, most people had between 16,000 - 18,000 unread post.

That setting was changed just a few minutes ago. Hopefully that will bring the number down to a more realistic one. If its still to high, I might bring it down to 2 - 3 days.

 

Kevin, I tried reducing the days, and for some odd reason, when I change the setting to anything below "10", the text changes to "Display Unread Posts" instead of "X Unread Posts". The number was nowhere to be found when reducing the days-count.

Did this happen for you?

 

Same thing happened to my forum. I'am going to let it sit for a day or so to see if everything works out.

If I have to, I'll just change it back to 10 days.

 

Okay, let me know how it goes Kevin. I'd like to be able to reduce the count while maintaining the number display.

I set the database read marking limit to 5 days and am using the Database (no automatic forum marking) option.

In the Display Unread Posts and Reputation modification, set to 5 days as well.

I haven't been able to crack the 3500 unread posts mark in quite sometime. Yikes, it's gonna be a long time before I can finish off my reading

 

I know, lol. Every time I view a thread, the unread post count goes up. :lol:

 

Well, we're closing in on the 20,000 mark, people. Keep it up!

 

So... If we get 20,000 can we have a Nutella party?

 

I'm slowly getting it down not posting so much though.
