I'm going to get AdminAddict going on Twitter - so I have a question: should I just use my regular Twitter account, or create one just for AdminAddict?

I would create a new one. With programs like tweetdeck (I think) and others you can use multiple names. I know tweetie for sure you can do this.

I've decided I'm going to use a single account - because it'd be a hassle to share the right Twitter name with the right people. Mainly because my personal account is for connecting with other forum enthusiasts and administrators and my AdminAddict account would be for the same purpose - so I don't see anything wrong with using just one account.

    Update

Twitter integration (along with Facebook and other social bookmarking utilities) is now extant for individual posts. This is a benefit of our newly-installed vBSEO.

You can Tweet or bookmark entire threads using the "AddThis" button above the first post in a thread.

I guess I can cross off "social bookmarking integration" from my to-do list. ;)

I would do whatever you feel comfortable doing, Nick. If you feel like creating a whole seperate account for your forum, you may do so. If you want to do just one account for everything, that's okay as well.

I have two IDs on Twitter. One under my name that is mostly technology and another other a site's name that I am working to revive. Been thinking about combining the two but would have to get about 100 followers to migrate from one account to another. I think starting with one account and using it for everything would get you the most overall followers in the long run.

Have to say as well that activity seems to be increasing around here.

Thanks Wayne, I'm glad to hear that you don't think it's a bad idea to use a single account.

And yes, we are beginning to have some activity going on. It's getting exciting.

Well after reading this thread I've activated social bookmarking on my gaming site - as I think it will be the one the benefits most.

Also interestingly and in kindof support of what I said in this thread after chiming in on an existing twitter thread, saying the site now has a twitter account, quite a few of the members went ahead and signed up an account too.

We should never underestimate how much influence admins wield when it comes to things like this...

Anyway back on topic - thanks!

I've been wondering, a lot of us are members of sites like Yahoo (Buzz) and Digg. Now this may sound bad but what do you think about creating a system were we support each others post? I mean person A post an article on Digg and Buzz. Then person B, C, D, E, etc comes along and clicks the Buzz up of Digg button? The person A does teh same in return? Yes this is pretty much abusing the system and probably underhanded but it reminds me of swaping post/links?

    It's just an idea.

The only reason I wouldn't use just one account is that I've seen many people say that they thought people should have separate twitter accts for personal and their sites, and they've actually un-followed some people because they were getting a bunch of their site tweets, and they only wanted the personal tweets.

I did a separate account for RHM but don't have any followers yet, so I do think I'm going to move it to my personal account until the site is a bit more active.
