Neither do I. It just shows Who's Online.

apparently it only shows those people who are on your friends list so for example if I had Wayne on my friends list he would appear in the Whos online box - so we can chat to him then rather than sending numerous private messages!

ah ok, so it's not really a chatroom where you can chat with several people. Only one person at a time?

    naw...

it is my understanding that that is how it works yes, say i had you on my friends list when i clicked Who's Online it would say PEGGY and I could click on your name and we could chat!

Yep I get it. But if I'm going to use a chatroom, I want to chat with more than one person ;)

yeah understandable, however there were about 20000000 requests for this on vb.org so can understand why it was done!

I personally don't like it, it takes space and will probably not be used by me :p.

I'm on the mobile version as I make my way home from a weekend away and I can't wait to see this in action! If it works well, I will be adding it to my site right away!

I've wanted this for awhile now. This should go over well in my community :)

Take a look at the very bottom of your browser window - it should be there.

To use it: You should notice a designated section named "Who's Online". By clicking on that rectangular box, a pop-up "contacts" list will appear - click on any one of the names (once) and a new pop-up box will appear. You can then talk to that person within that window.

    :)

I am guessing it works just like Facebook's chat. Something that I have never used myself. Lot of empty space though.

Had an idea to create a "Presence Bar" (that is what Facebook calls it) for vBulletin 4.0 so won't post my ideas here but the bar on the bottom is a start. Would be better if it was 100% width. Don't like the margins at Facebook.com either.

I agree with you on the width of the bar, Wayne. I'm currently browsing on a 24" widescreen and it looks a bit off.

    Great modification indeed!

I just hope this doesn't take away from forum participation.

Question; would it be possible to get sound notifications?

So when you get a new message, a sound goes off.

    Okay, thanks.

Because when you have open 7 tabs, you don't know what's going on.
