Most Over Rated Forum Software and Why?

vB 4 is probably the most overrated. I think IP.B is way better than vB 4 and 3. And IP.B tends to have much nicer skins.

 

I think both have nice skins, but yes IPB is much better.

 

Many people have said that vBulletin and phpBB are the most overrated. I'd say vBulletin is worse. The styles are awful and it costs a ton of money compared to what it offers. phpBB is overrated in some ways in my opinion, but it is still my favorite free software. Permissions are a pain to set, and mods are also a pain to install, but it makes up for these in the styles that are offered. The styles are nice, sleek, and come in almost every color.

 

I agree with you Se7eN, yes vBulletin is VERY expensive, and its not even worth it. I see phpBB a bit overrated to, but I cant complain because its free while vBulletin charges for just about everything, and you dont get what you pay for.

Yes and that too, they have been played a major role in "Forum Software" specially vBulletin.

 

I would have to go with IPB, people give it way to much recognition, another reason is because since vb is doing so poor it makes IPB looks the best which its not. Its bloated with all the crap it has, and not mention they completely copied xenforo with IPB 3.2.

 

Well I think IPB 3.2 is a major improvement.
