You want to remove the first one (you want all divs inside the condition) and then add the smallfont to the second one:

Ah, okay. I'll take care of that now and I'm pretty sure we fixed both the empty box and no background at all problems.

 

Oddly enough when I copy/pasted that it removed the background again. When I had two opening <div> tags with the smallfont one outside of the conditional it seemed to work.

 

I did this and it appears to show the background again but I don't know why I would need two <div> tags:

Check the whole postbit and make sure each opening div has a corresponding end div within each condition. It may be that it's working because of an error somewhere else. Also, check the page source to see what is really going on.

That is the current postbit with the only the join date part modified to work with the use of two <div>. I don't see anything else different though, so I don't know why it would require this.

 

You've got problems in the td tag for that area. You have a div class postdetail which stays open for the whole td tag (which you never close and that isn't good, but that's not this problem). Then you have div class smallfont and according to your css, you need another div within that to do it correctly (I don't think that is good, but that's what you have). I'm guessing your others may not work either with it set like that. You need to be consistant with all of those in order to get it to work correctly.

 

I had myself quite a mess so I decided to remake the entire skin I was working on from scratch. I feel good that I chose to do so because now it's working flawlessly and I have a much cleaner postbit:

No worries Nick - if it weren't for your tutorial I wouldn't have even known where to begin. And Lynne, thank you for helping me last night - if it weren't for that I would have never fixed the empty box and CSS problem in the fresh skin I made.

 

Is it at all possible to make the options in this multiple-selection checkbox pre-checked? Right now, the user will have to go in and check what they want. That means when they register it will default to showing nothing in their postbit. I would rather it show everything and have them uncheck what they don't want.

 

I don't think you can have them pre-checked. You could instead have the option be "check the options you do not want to be shown to other users"

 

Would I need to reverse something for that in the conditional?

 

Yes. You'd use this instead (note the exclamation mark - it means "not"):

This should work.

 

For some reason, I got some very weird results:

For the avatar it does work (check = hide / uncheck = show).
For the user title it does nothing.
For the location it does nothing.
For the post count it works backwards (check = show / uncheck = hide).

 

You can try what Nick suggested and see if that works. I'd probably try this:
