    Erm, what planet you from?

It's women who are more degraded in the media, not men. Look at the British newspaper The Sun, you don't see page 3 guys, do you?

I'll allow this discussion to continue, but let's keep it "cooler" in here, if you catch my drift. ;)

I think the whole men vs. women degrading discussion deserves its own thread, as it's now becoming a discussion that doesn't entirely pertain to forums - rather, it's about society in general.

Apparently you don't; things are marketed towards females because they do the majority of the shopping. Men are often portrayed as stupid, clueless, etc in advertisements, tv shows, etc where it would be extremely frowned upon for women to be painted in that light. It's not the 60s anymore.

I will leave you with this link of a great blog written by a female explaining this misandry:

I don't, you're right, I'm fine watching my anime. Other than that if you see Spanish television [which I do when I am hanging up with my friends] you'd know what I mean.

Yeah in other cultures it's definitely stayed more male-centric.

Not all men see women this way. Personally, I would not join an all woman forum to post my opinion. In my experience, when women get together in groups, they are just as mean and condescending as men can be. Tired of going out with people and hearing how much ex-husbands are "improper words" and yet my ex-wife was misunderstood, didn't get to explore, yadda, yadda, yadda. My ex-wife was not misunderstood. She violated the sanctity of marriage, drove up $50,000 in debt and still doesn't work to this day, 12 years later. Just like its okay to discuss sex and have pictures of naked men in women's magazines but if you talk about sex or have naked women in a men's magazine, its pornography and degrading.

Stereotypes are bad all around and until there is true equality than it will remain this way. A war of men against women. Some of us see that. It can't be equality with perks. You can't have equality and expect chivalry at the same time. Respect has to go both ways.

So let's be honest, Women's sites are not open to men's opinions. You might think they are but if a man was to try and defend himself, he would be ripped to shreds. I would never join a woman's site to state an opinion. Those venues are something that most men would steer clear away from.

p.s. I don't participate in those men's only sites either as they lower the quality of life that I am looking for. I did have a subscription to Maxim magazine for a few years because my wife purchased it for me as a birthday gift.

Wow...this thread is still running, even changed names?

I'm with you wayne, i wouldn't try to voice my opinion on an all girl forum. The chances of it turning out good is slim to none.

Anyhow, you all be cool and be safe.

    Thank you!

I went through the first 2 pages and no one said it so I thought I was going to have to.

I'm sick of women complaining about men, but we have shows like Sex & The City which just tries to make men look stupid as well...

People need to stop whining, suck it up and not visit places that they dislike. I'm tired of people getting to complain about anything that offends them, then we add new laws and limit the amount of anything anyone can do.

Men and Women both can be evil, and some will be. Equality is never equality anymore and people need to get over it. You can say men hold more highpaying jobs, but that is partly because women haven't been in the workforce as long, they have maternity leave, and genearlly are the nurtures in the family which means they can devote less time to actual work.

Saying you want equality means women don't get the pretty little things they used to. The jacket over the mudpuddle, the holding the door or men always buying the engagement rings. You don't want real equality, you want the deception of equality but the perks of chivalry

Not just Sex & the City. Every single sitcom known to mankind portrays the husband as stupid and inept. All the while they portray the wife as smart and the one who gets everyone out trouble with her sage advice. The only exception to that rule that I can think of is "Home Improvement". In that show, the advice came from a Widower that had Wikipedia surgically implanted in his brain.

That man I replied to seems to see women that way.

No women's magazine that is bottom shelf displays proper naked men. The majority of male orientated magazines contain light porn, where as women's magazines contain no porn. And I don't know why you're on about women's sites not being open to men's opinions or anything. Where did that even come into discussion?

If I recall correctly, this thread was originally about (or evolved from) a discussion about women-only forum and men-only forums.

ETA: Here is the thread that this men vs. women debate was split from: http://www.adminaddict.net/forum/general-community-discussion/men-only-forums-1469/
