Making a full featured forum like vB or IPB and compete over them does not take years? If so, I might just hire some developers and do my own forum software and compete!

I think it would be great to get in on the ground floor of a new forum script, and be part of its growth and development. :D

I'd definitely have fun being a part of the 'ground floor' of the foundation for new scripting like that :)

There's a teenager on a competing site that's done it in a year. He's sent the code into IPS and Jelsoft and had it verified to not be infringing. It's up for download, too. Very good and has a lot of features for custom made.

Then my point still stands, in order for a project like a forum software to be worth it it must be up to par to currents and compete against them, which is not possible in less than a year. Many small forums have been started around, with less features and stuff, none take off as vb or IPB and most fail and stop getting developed due to lack of interest or investment. I'm not against this, I'm all up for it, I just would love to understand how it would be possible to do such thing, unless there are other plans or... I don't know.

I don't think anyone expects it to just come out and ram vB and IPB into the ground. Those things take time. But it is very exciting to get into it early when a developer of Kier's reputation is at the helm.

IF Kier is doing this, it will indeed take off like a rocket, due to his reputation, if nothing else.
Plus, many people like getting in on something like this from the very beginning and they like feeling that their input is important. Which it is, to Kier & company.

One thing you can bet your life on - he isn't one to just 'drop' something. If this is what he's doing, then he's working very hard on it, and you won't see it fall to the wayside. Trust me on that one. ;)

I wonder if he'll recruit ray morgon. I hear those log cabins are very portable so moving on the fly and setting up shop to the uk wouldn't be so hard. Minus the snow of course.

    Of course!
I am hearing that come 4.0.1 the pile will have changed its color somewhat, with an even more pungent odor. :)
Also, (but I'm not revealing my sources) 4.1 has internally been nicknamed stinky. :)
