I got banned for much the same reasons, though I did get let back in again.

I was willing to give them a chance...but the company has inexplicably messed everything up. They have charged me for software I could not possibly use becuase it does not work properly. I am not optimistic that this will get sorted out, their tone appears to be that they want us to get used to the idea that not everything works. Well, I won't! Kier and his team never released anything that didn't work and the bugs that did show up actually got fixed!

    Welcome Kier.

While I may not worship you like some of the masses here  , I do hope you work on something, or even maybe team up with your former employers top competitor *hint hint*. Who knows what your plans are, either way I wish you luck.

While I would be interested to see a brand new software by you, I'm not sure if it'd be worth it from a time and management perspective with the options out there now. Teaming up with a current project however, could work.

I don't think so. There are very few people who stood up and were not afraid to unveil the true IB face, while backing the product and work done by the old devs. The fact is nobody cares, orelse there would be thousands of banned people.

If this does happen, it will be nothing at all like any version of vB, and no, it does not take years to develope.

Actually, it can. Especially if you're doing it strictly in your free time.

    Trust me, I know. x_x;

Knowing Kier, though, if he is making something from scratch, and he has a few dedicated people with him, it could take a lot less time.

Either way, I am very much in agreement with those who say it may not be worth it, considering what is already out there. Teaming up with vB's top competitor would be an amazing move, but Kier wouldn't hold as much of a dominating position (and since I'm not sure what his aspirations are, I don't know if that is a push-away factor or not for him).

On the other hand. It could turn into a new UBB -> vBulletin type deal.

We could, potentially, see a repeat of what happened 10 years ago.

This is further backed by Kier's reputation within the vBulletin community, if I recall it's quite similar to John's in the UBB community those years ago. (I could be wrong about John, though, I wasn't around at that time)

True true, if you're doing it only in your free time, I can see that.

But if you're coding it pretty much full time................ ;)

Oh contrare', I think it will be - erm - could be, very much worth it.

Just imagine having a brand new forum script unlike anything we have available so far. I like it.

Let's not forget, we don't know who he might have helping him with this. For all we know, it could be a team the size of the one at Internet Brands.

Hell, we don't know it's even a forum... it could be something far better and more interesting.

Well I did say that if he isn't releasing a new forum software I would have to leap off a tall building. And he said that luckily he doesn't wish me death and I can stay away from tall buildings. :D

Come on though, it's an interesting prospect. Maybe even something so great it makes forums redundant? That'd be one heck of a blow to Internet Brands...

And then they wouldn't even have the fallback of the quality of the product they bought. On the more plausible side, I wish Kier the best of luck, and hope whatever it is terms out to be a great product (and not bought out by Internet Brands).

Hey, save a spot for me! :D

Heck, at this point if the old vB crew were working on a forum package with no release date and no confirmed features, it'd still give me something to look forward to instead of the abysmal darkness that I am staring into when I think about "upgrading" to vB4.
