I really like your logo and colors for the site.

Other than that it's looking like a standard vBulletin site still, is there any section in particular you'd like to have reviewied

Not really, as there's not much there yet.

Possibly - concept, descriptions of each section, how it's laid out, etc,
Perhaps some suggestions as to how to make it look NOT like a standard vB site?.

Peggy, my guess would be that people interested in your forums topics may not be the average forum user. You would probably get people that are focused on your forums topics, and I'm not sure the look makes a whole lot of difference, not like a gaming site for instance.

Those same people would probably appreciate simplicity above collecting too much information in one place. Might I suggest getting real people with the condition to view your site and get real peoples opinions?

Your first page could be a little confusing for some people for instance, especially people that have children with the condition that may only have 30 seconds to view your forum.

ahha! That, my dear, is exactly what I did. I have had a few different people with ADHD to view the forum, most have joined just not posted yet.

They do like the simplicity, soft colors and ease of navigation. That's what I was most concerned with, and seem to have achieved to their satisfaction.

As you said, I'm not too concerned with the looks at this time. I think I have made it attractive enough without going overboard.

I just want to make it as easy as possible for people to use, and for navigation to be very clear and visible.

    Hi Peggy,

You have a great site going there. Good work.

A couple things, check out your graphics for the blog post. There not showing for IE7 or Safari. So I'm wondering is they are there for your theme.

Suggestion: To get people active it might help to start some subjects on how families are finding time for themselves. What things are being done in local communities like support groups and education sites. Even activities they are doing with their children. Stress relief subjects.

The word games and even brain teasers are great for those moments when you only have 30 seconds to post.

When my mom got alzheimers we would have loved a forum like yours to be able to 'share' experiences.

Here's what I said to my mom, since me and my brother are two kids with adhd and some other mental problems and I told her there was a forum like this she told me:

"It's nice and I wish I would have found this a couple of years back"

My family LOVES the ability to read it in our own language, and my mom enjoyed the design, she said it was calm.

Now, for us, me and my brother, we think the design looks okay specially we liked the logo, but we didn't like anything else. We really love the translator though.

Thank you for the suggestions on subjects. I'll definitely start on that Monday (I work weekends)! I'll look at the blog in IE8 and see what's missing.

    And thanks for joining! :D

Can you tell me what you specifically did not like so that I can work on those areas? Chances are, if you and your brother didn't like some things, someone else isn't going to like them either, and I need to work on those.

    Thanks!

Thanks so much for the kind words, and I appreciate the help. :D

This is GOOD stuff y'all. Thanks so much for being honest. It is much appreciated. :)

    Sure thing Peggy,

Concept - I like the idea of this forum. In all my travels, I don't think I've seen any dedicated support forums for these people.

The forum descriptions are nice and short, which is probably a good thing.

I'd perhaps condense some of the off-topic sections in to each other until they're actually needed.

I didn't look around to much, but maybe add an arcade for people to play while they're there, giving them something to do ;)

It really is a nice site Peggy, and best of luck with it.

Thank you for the review David.

I like your suggestions on condensing some of the off-topic sections. I have moved Sports to the Entertainment forum, and Misc chitchat to the Sound off Forum and changed that title to What's On Your Mind. I also moved the word games and the Jokes section into the off-topic section and deleted the Fun Zone.

    How does it look now?

Concerning an arcade, there is a games feature in the toolbar at the bottomof the forum. Perhaps I should make a post pointing this out, as well as the other features of that toolbar.

    Peggy,

I personally do not have any experience with people having the conditions you are targeting. Or at least, have not been brought to my attention as I know there are people that have it, but its not as severe, for lack of a better word.

I am not a true reviewer but if I could take a shot with some comments and I apologize if they are dumb or redundant questions/points.

    1. I repeat others in saying I like the header image and the name of the site. To me, nothing rings loud and clear than a theme backed up by the imagery and style. I'm saying I gathered that right off.

    2. Early on, I noticed you had the Notice (on forumhome) showing on the HomePage, I'm glad you replaced with the Block.

    3. Speaking for myself on such content, I guess I'd want to be able to see some sort of testomonial content. Something that I/others would relate to. I realize you have made some forums private and I don't fault the reasoning. So how would you maybe still appeal to that content suggestion, if you see what I'm saying? Maybe a blog or some story? Just thinking of how to grab the attention of your target audience.

    4. What has been your progress with other sites thus far as you mentioned previously? I'm guessing that is a challenge?

    5. I have no comments regarding your overall style or layout really as that is not my expertise in any regard.

Hope my comments help, otherwise just ignore. I've got 3 yrd olds, so in time I've got to be aware of these things that your site contains.

    Regards,
