I can think of a few hundred things that could be good. But it is impossible for me to even hint at most of them because I know so little about the internal situation.

From a tech view point I would first start with software quality assurance. You know, test cases with real test databases. And publish those test cases so people can repeat those on their own forums.

From a management point of view I would firmly state how long each version will be supported in calendar months.

From a design point of view I would take away the macs from the designers, put some kind of glasses to cloud their vision. What they are coming up with for a design might be fine for a 20 year old person with 20/20 eyesight with a Mac but really sucks on a PC with Firefox which is how 95% of my forum members are viewing my forum.

From a forum management view point, I'd shut the support forums down for a month and rely on support tickets only. For several reasons too numerous to list.

Then I would clearly address the ticket support for forums only. There is absolutely NO way that will end well. If you thought the license change went bad, wait until all the people using the ticket system now will be posting on the forums. That will not end well. At all.

And those are just a few thoughts.

You beat me to it FMB. :D

My other proposal in world of wishfull thinking in turning the vbulletin or vbulletineer around would be to stick with a project and stay clear of log cabins and the likes of. Projects related to log cabin and/or logging in general (I hear it's a dangerous career choice).

From a designers point of view. vb4 is reminisce to those broken down abandoned log cabins when a few hours thinking and recruiting the right person to build that log cabin would have resulted in a deluxe visually beautiful cabin. The peoples cabin so to speak.

Seeing as I don't care too much and wishing for something that would never come to pass I see another vb thread feeling like a disappointment vbulletineers thread if that makes any sense.
