By Mark B: "so certain people should be posting retractions of their lies if they have any honour or decency about them."

"Why did you falsely call me a troll when I asked (as a customer) a valid question."
@Mark remember this? Still waiting for your retraction for your lie.

You sound like Bill Clinton denying he had sex in the Oval Office. You threatened that customer by falsely accusing him of being rude and threatening that this could result in his being removed from forum access. It's a stop or else scenario = threat
So 2 things here, you either deny it because you were caught in the act and called on it, or your denial is pathological in nature. If you don't get fired you in all honesty and decency should resign what ever the hell position you have there. Your attitude and conduct towards others does a dis-service to them.
All seriousness aside, you are delusionally funny and sad at the same time

I strongly agree with the above.....
False accusations are (can be) very harmful and as such are illegal and person who cast them should be legally punished (in most modern countries proper punishment for this is inprisonment).....

Why is anyone surprised when @Mark.B acts like a jackass to customers at this point?

Can you all show me examples on your own sites where you permit users to be rude to staff?
    A link will do.

No one has to allow it. It's how you, yourself, handle the situation. Customer Service 101 - obviously a course that IB does not require of its employees and contractors.

I have many years experience in numerous customer facing roles.

In not a single one of them was it ever acceptable, nor permitted, to be rude and insulting to staff. Nor to make threats for that matter.
Most places it's zero tolerance, and rightly so. If people think that any company's staff are fair game for abuse and insults then they should be politely told to take a hike, no matter what the issue is. No "pussyfooting around", no "let's be all nice and kind because it's a customer". Be polite and civil or you get nothing. It isn't hard to do, even if you're not happy with a product. I have complained vociferously about many products and services, without ever once being rude or threatening.

Forums are a quandary because for some reason many people seem to think it's more acceptable to be rude to staff in a forum. Well, it isn't.

Besides which, what I think of the matter personally doesn't come into it. If it were up to me I'd let every rude comment stand because it shows rude people up for what they are. However it's not for me to start changing rules on sites I don't own.

XenForo don't tolerate rudeness to staff and will quite bluntly warn people to stop it. They are absolutely 100% right to do so.

See Mark, this is were you make me laugh. Remember before when you posted on Admin Extra crying about Slavik having it for you as a mod on XenForo. Then when you got banned cried further about it. Read what you just said above, the part marked in red.

    Sound familiar?

    Er, no.
I pointed out I got banned, by someone else. Forget who it was now. Hardly worth a light since I don't use the software and never have.
Nope. You never could your facts straight.

No I didn't. I don't have a problem with Slavik and the XF guys do a smashing job.

At the time the guys left manning that site were in an absolute bearpit that was not of their own making. They should be judged on what goes on now, not what went on then. My quibbles were not with them.

You know what Mark, I don't have constant people bitching at my forums because I don't treat them like shit. If your [****][****][****][****]ing company that you support would just try to listen to their user base instead of blowing them off and putting out complete trash software, you might not have to lecture people constantly about this.

I for one don't have this problem when it comes to answering questions that my forum members have and I sure don't see this crap on xenForo. I can't imagine it happens very often on other forum software support forums either.

TL;DR: Look in the mirror for the problem.

This is what I don't get about Mark, he's crawling around these admin forums reading all the vBulletin topics and jumping in them like Moses trying to part the Red Sea defending it. What he doesn't understand however, people are not moaning about it for nothing. He's putting himself in a no-win situation all the time and sulks accusing people of being haters because they won't listen to him.

Mark, you ain't Moses, you can't part the Red Sea.

@Mark B. The main problem you have is that being polite cuts both ways.

I have not noticed you condemning the VB support staff for being rude, insulting, banning without just cause nor have I seen you criticizing any of them for posting derogatory and denigrating comments about members whilst hiding behind their mod buttons. Why is this?

Please explain how you thought it necessary to call me and others trolls for asking valid questions in a polite and respectful manner.

Please explain why you were rude to me when I have only ever spoken in a reasonable manner to you. I have never used bad language nor profanity, so you cannot justify your false accusation by saying I was rude to you.

If you say that "They are absolutely 100% right to do so." Then you must be in agreement, that your false accusation was insulting and rude and therefore is worthy of an apology from you as the comment was unjustified.

You made the rude and defamatory comment in public so it is appropriate that you be brought to task for it in public.

It does not show in your postings.

What world did you grow up in where employees don't get reamed by customers for getting screwed? Ever been to a customer service desk?

it's not abuse when customers are trying to vent about shit service and employees give more shit back.

It's obviously going in both directions.

    meh.

I've made my stance on XF support quite clear. They don't have it 100% right, either.

I'd have to disagree on that one, well somewhat anyway. Think the problem was one - the minute your slightly critical of XenForo on XF.com, it's not so much the staff closing the threads fast, it happens because other members their tend to jump all over you like wild horses for saying anything remotely critical about XenForo. That's what gets the threads locked fast every time, that was what I hated about XenForo, you couldn't say anything, because you knew if you did the thread would last about 2,3 6 replies before locked.

No forum software is perfect, you can find little or big faults with all of it. But when you can't bring up those faults without being stomped on by other fan-boys getting threads locked, that is what I don't agree with. You've fell foul of the same thing yourself now, people saying this and that about vB, you're only reaction is the call them HATERS for doing it. You're no different yourself than any staff on XF, you say they can't handle it, well neither can you it seems.

I was not rude to you, but you were rude to me. instead of acting like a pompous ass when you do "support" why don't you actually READ what the CUSTOMER has said instead of just posting thinking you know the answer and posting a solution which was already posted and didn't work because I was getting the server error I reported. If you got your head out of your ass and said "hey looks like a bug, let me add this to Jera for you" life would be good.

As for me threatening to report the emails I was getting and did not subscribe to as SPAM... well since I didn't subscribe to them and my mailbox was being filled with them then that is the definition of unsolicited email... aka Spam. if vBulletin can no longer do business because their vbulletin.com is blacklisted because of a spamming issue that is not my issue, fix your damn software.

Another thing please have Paul M change his title at vBulletin.COM that says he is Lead Developer as its confusing and frustrating when you think you are talking with someone who knows about the software because he helped to design it only later to find on that he has nothing to do with the software and has no clue what hes talking about. He is doing a total disservice to the vBulletin brand because of of this. If you have the moniker "Lead Developer" and are answering support as "Lead Developer" but don't have anything to do with the actual development of the software, that that does not make you the Lead Developer. You say your the Lead Developer of vb.com and vb.org, but honestly I am as much the Lead Developer of vb.com and vb.org as Paul is... as we both have the same amount of control over the sites vb.com and vb.org.... NONE.

I think I am going to ForumCON this year just to talk... with whoever is there from IB and vBulletin who will be there. And talking with some other admins I might not be the only one doing the same thing. ;)
