Yea same here, I can guarantee the user wont come back to see if his account was activated because its a waste of time when they join and they have to wait for the admin to activate their account which makes them lose interest.

Admin activation in my opinion is a community killer and should only be used in extreme cases

I agree. I personally hate signing up to a forum that requires administration activation. I mean, how hard is it for a legitament user to click on a link in their email to activate their account? Not hard at all if you know what you're doing. If an administrator activates me right away, then I'll consider staying and posting about for a while, but if it takes a week or longer to activate my account, then I won't bother going back to the forum ever again. One thing that pisses me off more than anything, is that when you register on a forum, and you are able to log in but are unable to post, all because your account hasn't been activated yet by the administrator. I hate that because I feel like I'm being cheated out of something if I can sign in but I still have to wait for someone to activate me.

Yea, it's better for your account to be completely unusable than to be able to login but not use any features. This is one problem I have with Vbulletin, and I think MyBB also followed the same principle as well...
