Have you been banned before? On someone else forum.

And the fact that it's a forum for community administrators we're talking about... you'd think they might have learned some better ways of handling things.

 

I always thought it disturbing that members of that site actually are the ones running certain internet communities... I actually dread to think what someone's forum must be like if I have a bad impression of them on a forum admin discussion board.

 

I was banned for posting about 3-4 mild and civil criticisms of the way a forum (RightNation) was being erratically moderated.The postings was done at ANOTHER forum (a different forum from the one that banned me),that consisted of a sizable number of former members of the forum.

No forum violation was mentioned.Here is the actual statement that I got through the e-mail with a member I still had his e-mail address with:

"I spoke to Lisa. She said that she discontinued Tommy's account because he spends more time bashing RN on multiple websites than he does posting here and has made it clear to both current and former members of this site (and former owners as well) that he doesn't like her running the site and had no intention of donating or paying to join as long as it was her site.

Feel free to cut/paste this or let him know however you want I guess.

I should note that she never answered my e-mail or had the decency to tell me that I was banned.

I have since exposed the owner of the forum who banned me for lying by claiming she can not read the members PM's,without our permission.Many members long suspected that she was snooping in the PM's because,people were getting banned for the crime of passing a link to somewhere else,through a PM.

Now I am sure she will never communicate with me again!



I post all this after I was banned at a forum I mildly criticized her in,and a long thread about the Forum (RightNation) developed about many strange behavior of the people who run that forum,that ran to 11 pages! There were a number of people who were unfairly banned or run off,who posted stating their experience with the strange moderation practices at RN.

I was banned from Democrat Union,after just 4 postings for the crime of not being liberal enough,despite that I was in support of Dennis Kucinich right to speak in a town,while running for the Presidential office.

Some bannings are profoundly unfair,but there is nothing you can do about it once you are kicked off.

 

Oh, I know there can be foolishness on ANY forum, even "professional" ones...it just so happens that most of the forums I visit don't have as much of it going on. :p

 

I got banned for flaming a moderator. Before that, I had never even received an infraction.

Thats ok, that other forum is puney and only a fraction of the size of my forum. At one time that other forum was bigger then mine, but I passed them up a long, long time ago.

 

Yeah, plenty of times.
