Never been banned, and proud of it. :)

Easy solution: think before you post.

Some people ban just because they can, not necessarily because they posted something wrong. Specially if you own a forum in the same niche, people will feel like you're competition and think you might be taking content from them, therefore banning you.

Others are just no liked, and other just post stuff admins or staff don't like.

Oh, I do understand that, and I know it's not always someone's fault that they got banned, at least legitimately, but then again, I rarely visit any "hobby" forums...mostly professional, business-related forums, which tend to be a little more...um...professional about how they handle their forums. :)

My "hobbies" are my businesses. :)

Banned, Me? Never!!. I'm a good girl, I keep my opinions to myself and my mouth shut which ensures my survival on the roughest of forums.

Retaining a long life on any site/forum will lead to growing up gracefully, gaining a respected group of users and then leaving with your dignity intact.

Truth, Banned about 6-7 times on vb.org. Once on vb.com and once on TAZ.

Bans do follow me around, I'm a mouthy git.

My own site started seven years ago as a result of being banned from somewhere else.

I have been banned from a forum a few times, usually for very silly reasons like calling the admin a scammer one time. :P

Well technically, I didn't deserve the ban from TAZ. I have to point that one across, I was provoked by some silly billy who freaked out which lead to my ban for pulling the sarcastic card out of the bag. But then I say, you haven't lived if you haven't been TAZ Banned. Who hasn't been banned from there? LOL

3-4 times I didn't deserve the org Ban, Most of them where what I call on the online world grudge bans.

The vb.com ban was definitely appreciated. I couldn't argue with that ban, I freaked out prity bad for being banned on org and got banned from com.

I haven't been banned from TAZ, but then I haven't really posted much there, and I don't even have the same name I normally use because when I joined I was keeping my identity secret from someone.

haven't been banned before but been warned a few times, as one forum i use to frequent disallows any external links to sites which compete with them in certain genre, even if the link is on topic and helps address a users questions or posts on the forums!!! I gave up and just never returned to that forum and it's pretty stupid rule to have. Forums are meant for sharing information regardless of where it comes from but some forums have weird policies heh.

I think the vast majority of members who have been banned from there can say the same thing.

The first time I was banned was a long time ago. And it was because some dude held a contest to give away his IPB license. I won, and got the license. A few months later, he wanted it back. I told him that's pretty silly and that I rightfully won the contest. I offered to trade it back to him for a vBulletin license in return. That apparently pissed him off, as he went on to claim that I am a scammer and somehow "stole" his IP.Board license. So I got banned based on those claims, which is the stupidest thing I've ever seen done.

The second time I signed up with a name that wouldn't reveal it was me again. One month and 800 posts later, it was discovered that I am who I am, and am running a competing forum. Apparently, running a competing forum is grounds for an instant ban. I didn't know that, and it isn't mentioned in the rules, so the ban came as a shock.
    Oh well.

LMAO it goes to show you shouldnt give people things on the net if youre gonna want it back a little time down tihe line, what an idiot they are

They should at least have that in the rules, fair enough if it was written somewhere but its their own fault and damn right stupidity for leaving it out and banning someone without any rule to back it up. Fair enough you sometimes miss important rulings out but surely if theyre that worried they would have put a rule in place ages ago for it.

Just make sure if they start sniffing around AA to ban them back, tit for tat but they'd deserve it :D

Make sure there is a rule for that here. :frown:

....really and I thought online gaming communities contained all the tit/tat stuff. I am truly amazed to be honest.

In essense...I think someone mentioned it, if one has the power and they feel it, anything goes regardless of the rules. No honor I tell ya. Where's the class?

Oh right, Chani spoke of da beeznus places being void of such conduct. :headbang: She's so cool.

Okay, that is ridiculous. Did they just take this guy at his word without even thinking about both sides of the story, or even remembered he himself gave away the license? Jeez, and I thought I heard stupid ban reasons before.

Oh, and the banned from running a competing forum? Wow, just wow..
