Yay! I was partially right. :)

That post bit isn't bare, that's just, bland!

I like stalking guests or bots, specifically guests to see if they register or not.

    Me too!

The guests who stick around for hours at a time are the ones that register and don't ever posts. Ever.

Hey Tom, I've noticed that too. I think that's because they've left the site open in a tab or something - because as far as I know the usual refresh rate for the who's online list is set to 15 minutes on most sites. It's just like a waiting game.

It's more annoying when they sit there actually reading hundreds of posts and threads for hours at a time - and then never register! :p

Why not install the view restriction mod at vB.org? It uses a cookie to track how many threads the user can view before he or she has to register. You can set the variables yourself.

I'd rather not. Why? Well, if they only intend on viewing threads, then why would it be any different if they had a forum account? They'd just log in to read the posts without making any contributions. I don't see a non-poster being a much better alternative to a frequent visitor.

There are some plusses to it, such as you now have the member on your mailing list, they are more apt to eventually engage in discussion, among other things. But I don't see it to be worth putting guests through the hassle and frustration of having to register just to be able to view content. I'm a big opponent to doing that.

I love watching, too. I'm a Who's Online junkie - it's partially an illusion and partially because I really am sitting there watching what's going on. :p

You'll see me viewing "Who's Online?" every now and then - and no, it's not an illusion with me. :P

I always find it funny when you're viewing Who's Online and then suddenly someone else is. It's like you're looking at each other without saying anything.

The "Baidu" spider is found only on the southern tip of my Who's Online box :D

The Baidu spider is a frequent spider at Bird is the Word.

I am assuming he likes Family Guy.
