    Shh. ;)

Have any of you come across bots that have unique names (i.e. other than Google, MSN, Yahoo!, etc)?

I came across a bot just recently that was out of the ordinary... I'm trying to remember the name.

It'll come to you, I'm sure...

    Alexa is also around often!

Alexa is indeed an active bot... but not as annoying as, say, Google.

Just seeing them online causes my OCD to spazz (I love that term) out.

    Really? When?!

By the way, I meant taking a video of you spazzing out because of Alexa.

Alright, I better prompt Alexa to be at your site, or this site!

This is going to be one heck of a laugh! :spin:

Yes, you'll love it - a guy in a Polo shirt and plaid shorts spazzing out over Alexa.

On my Linnie forum, I have disabled the "What's Going On" box (not the statistics part) from guests. This area shows users/guests/bots that are currently online as well as members that have visited that day. Once logged in, this information is completely viewable and accessible for members.

I guess I don't have a good reason for hiding this section. I just did one day. :p

    I can't wait!

I think I know why you did that; for the protection of your members and their privacy.

That certainly is something I had in mind when doing it - but I also just like changing things around for the sake of change. I did it mainly because I was on a mission to greatly simplify the site for visitors. My niche isn't generally a computer-savvy group, so the simpler, the better for them. Check out one of the threads (Lineolated Parakeet Forum - Linnie Forum Community) and see how bare the postbit is. Once logged in though, it's full of extra stuff.

Not to mention, hiding the unnecessary aspects makes for a cleaner site in terms of SEO and crawlers; they won't be indexing useless stuff such as members' post count, their location, etc. Greater content relevancy, if you will.
