Re: Got some great feedback. Thanks a bunch, y'all!

Regarding an Arcade. It will be fairly active on the site for 45-60 days. After that people will get bored because the games available will not match the quality of creators like Popcap games which are used on MSN Games and AOL Games or even Facebook. After people gravitate back to the fun games like Bejeweled and Peggle, the traffic will die down but a couple of people will be determined to always have the high score in every game so there will be some competition. The competition will spill over into the general forums.

While people visit the arcade and play your games they will drive up bandwidth and stickiness but won't add any real content to the site. Unless you're showing CPM ads on the pages, there will be no real benefit to the site. Those ads would need to reload automatically using AJAX as well because your page views won't necessarily increase a lot unless people really suck at the games installed.

Of course then you have to worry about copyright issues with all the old school Nintendo knock offs. Good quality games are about $1000 a year for licensing.

That is just my personal experience with Arcade addons. On a general site where the goal is just to have people there then they are good addons. Or if the Arcade had a lot of AJAX to notify people of new posts, messages and other things while they played than it would be beneficial.

That is the default panel surround color. You'll find that many people who design styles for vBulletin rarely cover all the details for a cohesive look. That color doesn't really bother me though.

I just don't like the signature limits... would also be cool if you offered adminaddicts in other colours. This blue theme is getting bland now for me, a green, red, black versions would be fantastic.

Thanks for all of the feedback thus far. :)

In regards to the addition of an arcade, my thoughts on this are the following:

    • It would be a distraction.
    • A large portion of the activity would redirect towards the arcade, which would in turn decrease the overall activity directed towards the actual discussion.
    • It's not related to the subject matter being discussed.
Thoughts on this? We're a very dedicated community, but I'm afraid that prospective members may find the arcade to be amusing and direct their attention towards the gaming aspect (as opposed to focusing on the goal of this community).

I couldnt agree more, adding an arcade to AA would certainly make the forum seem unprofessional to newcomers. I personally wouldnt use it myself, I have an xbox 360 if I want to play on games :D

A friend of mines used to have an arcade on his web design site, it certainly made his site look a bit of a joke IMO.

I agree that an arcade is not needed based on what has been said above.

It may bring new people to the board, but if they are only interested in playing the games then I don't that they would add any true value to the content.

Wow, you took my arcade suggestion seriously. Maybe I should use /sarcasm tags next time.

    ;)

Well, I've seen other webmaster-like forums that have an arcade, and I thought it was a unique touch. So I wondered what our community would think of it.

Obviously, it's not in demand. :P

Add an arcade as a premium benefit, I'd so donate then, I feel an arcade would rock.

You can install v3Arcade, restrict it to premiums only, and so that they're not in it all the time, install Cronjob v3arcade is Open - vbEnhancer.com so that the arcade is only open at specific hours.

I don't quite get it, either.

But then again, I don't really play games. Online or off.

Its not just that, its how unprofessional AA would look, arcades are usually on forums where people are interested in having fun or relaxing etc AA is a place for admins of forums to converse and seek advice not play around on flash games :) Honestly I think it would look like a joke.

    No arcade needed.

My only complaint with the coloring. Something about it bothers me.

 Maybe add bbcode for sarcasm.

Since the theme has been mentioned maybe have a contest for 'design of the month'. Then showcase it for the following month.

Would be great for the forum designers here to showcase their work and get reviews at the same time.

Cannot change out of the mobile style. Click the Regular Style link, wouldnt work. UserCP don't give any option to change.

Well, I didn't change my theme, but I did use the user agent[Mobile Browser] in Safari and yeah, you can't change back to normal, it takes you to style ID 4 but it seems the same?
