Ok, I've had a lot of frustration in the past. I've used synonyms of words that would end up meaning the same thing in my domain, but they were still taken. It just aggravates me how people or companies buy up domains, and squat them like henchmen. Then they charge you a ridiculous amount of money to buy it from them, not to mention the waste of money that is a domain transfer from their registrar to yours.

I love the thesaurus on my MacBook when I'm trying to think of a name. It doesn't speed up the process at all, but it does make for more rejected words. Now that I think about it, it has never helped me. Crap..

I'm got the oppisite problem. I think of a name then by the domain. From there I'll envision a whole site, forums, blogs, wiki, etc. Within a couple of days, I'll decide oh this would make a good wiki site.. then one of two things happen either

a)I get the domain up and install the CMS and leave it alone because I get busy with other stuff

    or more likely

    b) I do a little research after buying the domain, realize there's so much competition in that arena that it's probably not even worth it, and 301 the domain to one of my active sites.

All it leads to is huge domain renewal bills, although I've been pretty good lately I'm hovering right around 30 domains (most of which undeveloped), which is a vast improvement over my former 100+.

I can imagine your pain, Dan. It's not a bad idea to have a handful of domains because they may go for some good value later on - depending on who wants it. But one hundred? That's a lot!

I know how you feel savage, I now have the exact same problem, I have an excellent website idea but every single domain I can think of is already a taken (and mostly parked) domain.

    You mean it ?
Would love if you could help me.

I'd go with that as well, Peggy. You were actually able to come up with a creative name... unlike me. :D

And, he PMed me. I told him I'll give him a list as soon as I can. :)

Rush Hour Traffic would be cool, too, though Madness is cooler. ;)

I can't wait until it is done! If you have the debate section, I'll be there with flying colors.
