    "Elevator" when they mean "Lift"
    "Sidewalk" when the mean "Pavement"
"Happy Holidays" when they mean "Happy Christmas"
    "Pants" when they mean "Trousers"
    "Panties" when they mean "Knickers"

    :D

Well, Christmas is a religious thing(Christian/Catholic?), Holidays is used for those who are not Catholic/Christian/Religious. I hear often the "We don't celebrate Christmas, we are Jewish (They celebrate Hanukkah)" on my site, so it's a bit more appropriate to say 'Happy Holidays' when you do not know the person or it's tradition.

I can assure that Christmas is not even remotely religious in our house.

I just realized that I made a typo... hehe. I'm hopefully getting a new keyboard soon though, this one seems to be just a bit too different from what I am used to.

I disagree that things like 1337 are not 'real language', in a pure linguistic sense, they're counted as such. Heck, some college I know has a part of the English language course on internet speak and methods of communication used online...

Oh, and the not christmas thing bugs me too. Not that I hear it much, but it's political correctness gone insane to try and downplay all religious stuff in the Christmas holiday/name.

Edit: By the last part, I should say that most people and cultures that political correctness versions of language claim could be offended are more offended by the thought that people would assume something like Christmas or such would offend them.

Like which? "Internet speak"? One would think English (or the language you speak) would be the normal means of communication on the Internet (or anywhere else you are).

The idea 1337 speak is bad English. It's common, but this was like, a college level course that said the idea of bad English in general as a description of it is wrong.

Besides, you can't have this without 1337 speak:

The quote's just a humourous example of 1337 speak in a video game I've beaten quite long ago. It's become quite the meme online because of it. And seen by some who've seen such writing on internet forums as hilarious meta parody.

But the point about the bad English is that quite a few teachers and professors who teach English don't see 1337 or text speak as bad English, and the topic was about English mistakes. Plus, it's always fun to bring up that quote as an example.

My teacher would have the student removed from the classroom if they dared to write anything like that. :unhunh:

Just a bit more of a mistake if you ask me, and to be honest, I think it's foolish if the individual types like that on purpose. If someone actually wrote like that with pencil and paper... well.

    Translation is:
Game was Mario and Luigi Partners in Time. But back to topic...

I'm not really sure what other mistakes I dislike. I mainly dislike messages with a lack of content or meaning, not the way they're presented.

Doesn't mean I'm gonna like it anymore if it is considered a real language. :P

It will never be a real language, because when spoken aloud, it's English. Plain and simple.
