Do your members have get-togethers?

On any of my forums, no - though, it would be quite cool.

However, I did once say having an "AA Reunion" would be awesome.

 

About 12 official meetings and numerous unofficial meetings. One of my main goals to set this up

 

To those that do: Do your members just happen to live close together?

 

Most people travel max. 70 miles, my country isn't very big.

 

Yes. They end up going to local events and expos together (relative to the forum's niche/topic).

 

For one of my former projects, the members were all in the area, yes - it was a car fanatics club, and the member who lived the farthest away was in a bordering town... 5 minutes away.

 

yes, two members met up to go and be in the audience of a tv show they liked, and also three members met up one day for a drink...

ive never successfully organised one yet, cause whenever i try to there is a reason that half the members cant go!!!

ive been on one with members of another forum, there was 11 of us who went and we had a great time

 

We had our annual holiday party from one of the forums I run this evening. So yes we do get together.

 

My members meet up all the time, as well as the group we're connected with.

There's a HUGE meetup scheduled for Aug, '10. Star Wars Celebration 5. There will be a TON of replica R2-D2s there. Heck, they even get their own room at the convention as they have for the other Celebrations, and it's always the talk of the convention.

2010 is the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back.

 

Two of my members are getting married to each other. One posted and then he brought his girlfriend on the forums and they both are active. Now that they are getting married, they are inviting some of the more local members which includes myself!

 

awwwwwww i was asked to be bridesmaid at a forum members wedding (on a forum im not admin on). it happened when two members joined and found they had a lot in common, it started with them having the same taste in music, which they found out on a thread- "whats your favourite song". i was the only member on that forum full of trolls who believed they would actually get as far as to get married, and i found their relationship sweet, yet the forums clique of members thought it was disgusting.
