Do you offer an avatar gallery?

That is an excellent idea; maybe that will spur some people to finally add an avatar gallery

 

I love those avatars (I just checked them out after reading your post). They go great with the theme and skin of the forum, too.

That is an excellent idea. Instead of having to find avatars, let your members provide them for you.

 

the previous incarnation of the forum had an avatar gallery, and i was in charge of adding stuff to it. we dont currently have it on the forum now.

dont think i had that many avatars on it, but added pictures i liked and pictures of things people on the forum liked, there was about 20 on it

 

I offer lots of avatars for folks to select from. I've created lots of them for my new site LegendaryRockers.com, but I'm thinking of adding a 'custom page' with a true "avatar gallery" of sorts!

Displaying the avatars in a cool way might promote folks' use of the avatars

Just thought I'd mention that from the main portal page I cannot seem to find a link to your forums. I can manually edit the url to get to them though. I also see there is a link to register for the forums.

I'm not sure if you are actively promoting that site or not, just letting you know I cannot find the link.

I have a few up there, but the audience of the forum probably won't care much. should the owner decide to ask for more, I may give them a few more.

We have roundabout 100 avatars as a premade-option in our forum. They are quite well used, although many of us turn out to use our own uploaded avatars.
Some members refused to have an avatar anyway, so we decided to implement a default avatar (with the ulterior motive to force the usage of individual avatars)
I´m always feeling more comfortable in our forum to recognize well known members by an avatar. It´s giving me a sense for recognition and familiarity. And an avatar-gallery definitely unburdens the step to use this feature, as far as my experience goes.
Arny, your approach for making avatars prominent is truly impressive!

 

yes. 50, based on the theme. Plus, we set a default avatar for everyone.

 

i think having an avatar gallery available is important. we offer it and it gets used quite a lot.

recently i found this library and i've been thinking of adding it, you have to buy them in packs, $15 ea., but they're really go, so it might be worth it:

The only reason I have an avatar gallery available for my members on the Linnie Forum is because I got bored one day so decided to set it up.

 

you can have one or many from gravatar.com....its a nice place to have email avatar id...go get one now
