Did Vbulletin lose more than a lawsuit?

I'm happy you think Xenforo was the best decision for you. That doesn't necessarily make it the best decision for me. That's the beauty of having different options. We each get to choose the best one for ourselves.

3.8.x has been updated for php 5.4 (3.8.8), and we have discussed what may be needed for php 5.5

 

Bottom line... People will migrate between platforms (whatever those may be) when the upside to moving outweighs the effort needed to move. I'm not "pro" XF blindly... I didn't *want* to move... Trust me, I had way better things to work on.

But for *me* it was the best option. I also looked at IPB as well as building my own from scratch. vB3 and vB4 served us well for many many years. If they turn themselves around and vB6 is something amazing, maybe the effort to migrate back will be worth it for us.

 

Still no news on when this will happen for 4.2.x though, right?

 

Really? care to share some input? my loads have spiked but like usual, anything i do a major upgrade...(2.x to 3.x etc) i've seen spikes.

 

Oh yeah. vB4 definitely seems to need more resources than vB3. What kind of hosting are you on?

Its already been stated that php 5.4 is planned for vB4, so yes, when there is more I can tell, I will.

 

I'd guess PHP 5.4 compatibility is coming at some point for vB4 if they've done for the older vB 3.8

 

You really need to stop always trying to tell people what to do. Just because you think XenForo is the best thing since Jammie Dodgers, doesn't mean everyone should follow your lead, which you tend to try and ram down peoples throats.

I mean i'm a xf fanboy too, i'm also a extrem IB hater because they destroyed vB, but XF is also not the holy grail! It's not the perfect solution for everybody...

 

I might be being a little bit pendant but having just noticed the thread title I feel the need to point out that the lawsuit was not (won or) lost by either party as such, there was a settlement and only the parties concerned know the outcome.

 

I've never had a problem with you, so @GTB question: Do you want to go down this road? Is that what you want, Gary? Because I don't forget enemies. Those make enemies with me often lose in the end.
