Dear vBulletin Forum Community - vBSEO is Suspending Operations

What does it do that's not built in already other then giving you one spot to edit your settings?
I haven't touched that mod in a few years, maybe it's improved since then but I remember just showing your normal optimizing settings, in one spot.

 

I thought it easily let enable server side caching (APC, Xcache, etc). I used the lite version briefly didn't notice any difference and removed it.

How is Vbseo going to treat their existing customers? What happens if you upgrade vbseo or need a key reactivation after moving your server and you can't because support is dead, they don't reply to tickets.

This puts vbseo team in liability, and i mean all (including those who left, banned or whatever). Since they have all participated in creating this weird system of key activation every time you upgrade vbseo or server, you need staff support to give you a new key. This is not automatic or fun.

I would really urge them to disable such feature if they are not going to provide support, I for one, like to activate my key anytime i want, and not resort to contacting vbseo via ticket since it is dead anyways.

This can expose you to a negligence claim "You have clients which bought the product but can't use it because support is dead and they can't get their new activation key" It doesn't matter whether vbseo team have personal issues with each others, it still consider negligent on their behalf.

 

I tried an early version and it trashed my database when I uninstalled it. Then the coder gave me a lecture on the proper way to install and uninstall add-ons, the implication that I didn't already know how to do that adding insult to injury

Brandon you probably haven't used vB Optimise Lite/Pro for too long. Pro version allows you to offload more vB elements to cache than default vB does. It's an awesome plugin and does way more than what you assumed. For folks who haven't gotten it to work properly, then that would be a server config problem Properly configured, I have seen clients push and save 10 billion cache hits per month http://vbtechsupport.com/1526/ or some clients saving 25,000,000 MySQL queries per day offloaded from MySQL !

The answer in relation to vB4 is that vB devs only work on what is directed by IB management. It's also partially to do with some features are dependent on server configuration itself i.e. browser level caching, static file compression, APC, Xcache, Memcached etc. That being said, some of vB Optimise Pro features are in vB5 by default such as guest caching, caching templates, cdn support and various other caches (again as directed by IB management)

 

But that's management of vBulletin for you, i still wonder if they know what they are doing in software development. What you see with features and improvements is that they want to adjust it, but its all halve baked not yet done. Its really a shame to see a company go to waste like this.

I am sorry but we are not responsible for anything about vBSEO.
Many team members already did their best for vBSEO's survival but none of us succeed on that.

Additionally you only need a new license key if you change your licensed url or upgrade vBSEO. You need to make sure you saved your settings correctly. If you switch server , you can just import your settings and you'll be good to go.

Only thing you shouldn't do is not to change your domain.

It is also not hard to hack and modify the license system on vBSEO.
