50 post minimum required to play arcade games!

@Mouse - I know! It's like they feel they have a license to spam or something. If you need to participate to get something desirable, it might as well be done properly.

 

I do not think that simple hard limit is good idea. Because - You are get a freedom after reaching this limit. The best solution is derivative measure for soup activity. I can to propose to lower limit but it should be related to the somw time period. For example : You can play arcade only if You did 20 valid posts in last 20 days. You know ... one post per day for each souper - it is not too hard ... :nod:
Another way is to bind the amount of posts with amount of game session ... for example 1 post = 10 Smash The Pingu sessions :no: :bawl:

 

those are also good ideas - probably once again very hard to code though

 

The first idea limit/time should be easy to code.
You are already checking the total number of posts before arcade play - You should to do this comparision with another number - the number of posts for last 20 days. You can to precalculate this number for each user everyday at 05:55:55 GMT. - it should not to be too complex - one query for each user once a day.

 

I don't like that because i sometimes don't post everyday because there aren't any threads that I have anything to say in, or I feel like watching TV or something, but I think 50 is a good limit.

 

I donno 50 is kinda harsh.....I'm on sooooo many boards but whatever they'r just flash games but it it fun to try to beat ppl on the board. I don't live on my puter but eventually I'll have 50 posts.........& yes I'll still post when I feel I have something to contridute. as it is now I come to soup about every month or 2.

 

If you're only coming around once every 2 months or so, then you missed the rampant abuse that was going on. We had a few dozen people register, get their 10 posts, and run wild in the arcade while contributing nothing to the forums other than their initial 10 posts.
Half the time, the 10 posts were useless responses to years old posts that had no relevance any more.

Since implementing the 50 post limit, the number of problem occurrances has dropped to ZERO. We haven't had a single user of this nature come across the forums, which is exactly how it should be. If the limit is "too harsh", then it's in response to the users who come to take advantage of the system rather than contribute to it. If "too harsh" is what's required to fix the problem, then it a clear cut case of the ends justifying the means.

 

no, we had one try to get to 50, only to have his post count dropped to 1.. bwahaha

w00t 1 out of 50.....i think its a little much maybe its cause im not a post whore i dont know....see i play many games and talk on there furoms alot and play the game a ton and stuff and only get 100 posts when i quit (well around 100) so i mean its well this smily can explain it.... :bull:

Btw, you mentioned you're lucky to get around 100 posts on most forums before leaving, why is that?

From what I have read, not a ton but enough, Liquid_ice001 has had many meaningfull post maybe you should do some more reading.
