Re: What if someone said "[****][****][****][****] you" to you?

an older member, who knows the rules by now would recieve a warning, and their post would be deleted. if they were in an argument or debate that got a bit heated or something, i would ban them for a day to give them a chance to calm down. if they carried on doing it after this they will be banned.

I did have a member say just that when i merged some of his posts as he did not need three all about the same event.

He was instantly banned as i feel if other members see him get away with it then it would only open the floodgates.

I agree that this person should deserve a ban in most cases, but I'm not so sure why he said this. Do you know why?

    Yeah, wouldn't you, huh?

The person told me this as soon as they saw the thread:

i think a cooling off period would be in order for something like this again i would handle it case to case basis....with a ban being the last option i have had to ban a user in the past who was a long standing member but the ban went into effect only post all other mediums of resolving the issue failed.

The member would be banned without any hesitation. It's pretty much my house, my rules and you are the guest.

I guess that member retention isn't on your list of priorities.

It's a very tight knit support forum, so when a member has that kind of attitude they really are not worth keeping around. If they do that to me, they will do that to others on the board and I can't tolerate that.

    Me too.

Occasionally, for learning purposes, I will go to AA member sites. It gives me added perspective when they type things on AA. Your 2 sites are quite different in their intent.

Not knowing what lead up to the language, i would just ignore the post and move on. Alot of times, things like this will pass. The member may have had a bad day, something tragic may have happened in their lives, etc.....Sometimes people feel pushed into a corner and strike out with language like this, not really meaning what they said. Only to then feel remorse, but the admin over reacted and struck down a lifetime ban.
