I have been PM'ed and emailed asking if I was going to convert AA to xenforo. My previous replies were always that I'd wait until the lawsuit was over before I made a decision. Well the lawsuit is over and it's onward and upward for xenforo.

Now I want to let the community make the decision. You vote on the future of AA. After all it's your community.

don't be swayed by fanbois. what reason is there to change?

IMO, XF owners have a history of not communicating. and being quiet about updates.

settlement of a lawsuit a few days ago does not change the history.

wait six months to see how they well they are managing.

No I'm not swayed by anything. I converted 2 of my 4 sites a while ago because I like the software. My users on those site love it. I am trying to make my 4 main sites consistent with the software run on them. It makes things easier for me.

In any case if we do change it will be a while. I am in the process of doing my programming community now and it will take a while before it's done.

I feel that it is your forum. If you want to change it, I'll still be here. Even though I'm just fluff! LOL

I kind of want to move back to XF but then i think of the support I have from IPB and the support I had with XF...and it makes me want to stay with IPB.

As for AA, i love the way it is with IPB.I voted no

IMHO (at this time), I find IPB more suited for serious business websites and XF more suited for hobby and/or beginner sites. Obviously you'll find both types of sites using both types of platforms. I'm only stating my personal opinion atm. As for the current default style, as nice as it is, I use the IPB default when logged in...it's easier for me to read.

I'll be staying with IPB for the time being. I'll relook at the possibility of converting in the future.

I will be moving the site to a new server in the next few days.

It might have been possible that IB requested XenForo not be able to release / share further updates etc... which is most likely the case seeing as they went quite for a year and the moment the lawsuit was over they were back posting and developing again.

I think thats a good call. IPB seems to work real nice here (good job on the theme, one of the best IPB themes I've seen I think!) and I don't think much needs changing.

a secret order from the judge to stop working on their business? really.

I think it is more likely that they stopped by choice.

If Internet Brands put the motion though it is very possible this could have happened - not to stop working on their business but to stop releasing software updates etc... on the grounds that they claim XenForo is based on vBulletin. Who really knows?

Yes it is possible they stopped by "choice" or more likely pressure / timing / resources available among other things fighting all the claims of the lawsuit. Either way, it is obvious that they vanished in relation to the lawsuit. With that being over they are know a lot more active on their forums and development efforts.

I don't think you bashing them is quite fair to be honest.

If you want to debate further on this maybe its best we take it to another thread as this one isn't really for this :).

not bashing. The admin asked a question and I answered, suggesting that he wait six months. I added a fact to support my suggestion: "XF owners have a history of not communicating. and being quiet about updates."

considering the many public record legal documents, court records, and public judge's orders,............I am not going to debate with someone who wants to argue that there was a secret judge's order.

that would be like having a debate about the existence of unicorns. pointless.

I know if it was me, I'd already be testing out an implementation of the forum on XenForo somewhere in the background, and loving it. And would then convert shortly after.

But considering the state of affairs (historically and now), I would wait a bit and see how XF development fares. We know they are pumping things out right now because they've got a lot up their sleeve that they've been holding back throughout the lawsuit. How long is this going to last though?

I have this site running in a test bed already. I am doing the import of the resources section into xenforo resources addon this weekend.

For now we stay with IPB and if what we are seeing now from xenforo is what we continue to see then I look at converting in the future.

Staying with IPB for now. Have a server move planned in the next couple weeks so things could change.
