You have to make sure that the content is 'on target' and not what you 'think' may be on target. So, unless you have a woman involved in the decision making process of how to design, what to use as 'features' on the site, etc...it might be tough.

Do I think it could succeed? Hell yeah, just have to be sure that your target audience gets what they want. :)

Instead of 'boobs' vs 'ass'...you might have to go with 'sensitivity' vs 'sense of humor' or instead of 'free porn' you may want to go with 'free recipes'....something like that ;)

PS. Take it easy on me girls, I'm just making a point :D

My girlfriend used to own a girls only forum, they can do well but I wouldnt expect phenomenal growth even with a lot of effort put in and advertising etc It was mainly about general things very similar to our teen forum but was for girls only. I fully agree with Arny, a female running it would be good or at least helping out loads as its gonna look weird with you posting on it daily as a guy yet the forum is for females.

=_= It would work if you don't concentrate in the mushy mushy shit that some[not talking about anyone here] think it's to be a women's site.

I'd help if I had time (and if I weren't so outside of the "norm").

    Good luck! :)

For your edification, here is my list of rules pertaining to my media consumption (books/movies/web sites etc.) for/about women:
    1. It must not be predominantly pink/flowery. At least have some theme choices available.
    2. It must not treat women as if they were stupid/weak/PMSing
    3. It must have female characters/members/participants who have conversations about something other then men/cooking/children. (Not that I am opposed to those types of conversations, but if those are the only categories...)

I like pink (in moderation) too, but it's been so overused on women's sites it's become a stereotype. Yes, women's retinas are more attuned to shades of red and pink and therefore a lot of us find the color pleasing, but the cultural connotation of the color pink has become one of Barbies and dolls and princesses. Some women are going to feel belittled if it is assumed that is the only type of template they are interested in.

So, by all means have a pink flowery template, but offer a choice to those who aren't interested in that. :)
