When you press the caps lock key does the light go on and off on your keyboard? If it doesnt it most likely wont recover from the crash. I am sure in windows 7 you can restart explorer.exe when using task manager without any hiccups.

How much RAM do you have?

I have 8GB, and a LOT of tabs open, and I've never frozen before.

Oh, and I'm running the 64-bit version of Win 7 Ultimate.

This is normal behavior actually. When you have multiple applications it Windows will page them in and out of RAM as necessary to multitask. When you switch to a new window, work doesn't stop in other windows. Those applications keep using resources. Even XP does this and I wouldn't run any modern computer with less than 4 GB of RAM installed. 6 GB if you're using a 64-bit OS.

Personally, I blame Chrome. Unlike other MDI documents, each tab in Chrome is an actual copy of the application with all the resources allocated to as if you only had a single tab open in Chrome. It is a fairly power hungry setup to run many tabs in that browser.

DOS boot up disk, fdisk - enable large disk support - I think its either 1 or 4 to delete partition, delete non-dos partition - restart - create partition - restart - format c:

    Install windows xp.

    The RC is Ultimate. :)

At least that's what it says on the Welcome screen. ;)

Yes, the Release Candidate is the Ultimate version. Which I'm pretty sure I'll be buying through the college Microsoft program. I loved Win7 since the closed beta, and it's still a great OS now, so I actually high hopes for it. :)

Already bought three copies through the presale. Only got two copies of the Premium version though as it fits my needs really. Since they were only $49.99 each, I can't argue much.

Agreed! I don't like going back to XP when I need to...

    Say what?!? $49.99???

I might need to get my teacher-mom to buy it for me! :D

In my honest opinion, it's worth every penny for the full-priced retail version, although I would definitely get it while it's hot! Believe me, this is what Vista should have been, and will easily replace XP as the standard, not unlike XP replacing 2000.

Microsoft had a presale on licenses back in June and July on their website. That was the price they offered it at. I got three copies. My mother ordered two copies for her computers.
