As the title says. I'll chime in later. I just want to see what you all view or feel what type of people shouldn't run a forum.

People who are not up for a challenge, have no dedication for the topic they're thinking of creating the community around, and immature to a nearly endless extent. Those who are also power-hungry will find it difficult to deal with the "community" aspect of running such a project.

Oh god, I have ADHD and a few other mental problems. I was right about my first post!

In reality, I think people who give up easily or people who love to be power hungry as Chris said, those shouldn't be managing a community. Although I can tell you that having ADD doesn't shun me from doing my online work, so I wouldn't say people like that are not suitable.

I also think that people who are leaders should make a community, obviously, but those leaders need to know when to be a follower as well when time comes.

    Well said.

I don't necessarily mean specifically people with ADD (even though that is exactly what I wrote), but people that won't be able to focus and will lose interest quickly are probably not the best idea.

True, though sometimes people can find something that interests them. I am one of those ADD people who get bored easily, but designing is something I can't get bored with because of the creativity and the difference on every piece of art.

    It's different for everyone :P

People that shouldn't run a forum is the kind that creates them just to be an owner and the type that creates them for money in their mind only and puts alot of advertising on it and never visit the site.

I'm probably one of the most impatient people you will know yet I find myself to be successful when it comes to managing forums. What it really comes down to is self-control. If I let my impatience get to me, then things go wrong; but if I can control myself and not let my impatience adversely impact my management, then I'm good to go.

Another key factor is dedication. You must not only be devoted to the subject of the niche, but to the development and growth of a community.

Those who shouldn't run a forum are people without dedication, some leadership skills, and those who want the power.

I have an Attention Deficit Disorder. Spent 12 years of my childhood on Ritalin because without it I would drive my teachers crazy. To this day, caffeine will put me to sleep if I have too much of it as that is one of Ritalin's side effects.

Still struggle with it on a constant basis. Some days its a very difficult struggle and I have to practically chain myself to my office chair to get anything done. On these days, it seems that every 15 minutes there is some other pressing need. Other days its like I am in a zone and nothing can distract me from the task at hand. Here, I can start a project at 9:00 a.m. and not realize its 3:00 a.m. until my wife asks me if I am going to stay up all night.

It comes and goes quite a bit. I use a lot of timers and lists to get through most days. For instance, if I know it takes 15 minutes to do the dishes, I set a timer to 15 minutes and force myself to do dishes until it is over. Otherwise I can get distracted with sweeping the floor or vacuuming the carpet because something catches my eye. Pretty soon, five or six hours pass without ever finishing the dishes.

Sorry, just a nerve that was hit.

xD!!! I did that yesterday when I was suppose to be cleaning my room.

Not even kidding, I was supposed to clean my room 10:00am, but I saw something outside so I ran out, ate chocolate, which made it worst and I started running around, cleaning the bathroom, the screen of my comp. It was 2:30am and I realized I haven't cleaned my room. =\ SO my mom tells me I get Nutella if I clean my room, I cleaned in 30 minutes.

I think people who set forums up for money should be shot/not allowed to have a forum.

I think it can be okay if you set up an forum for money as long as it isn't just for money. If the owner is active and posting and fixing stuff on the site then its okay even if he does it only for money.

    Kar98 ftw.

But yes, I would happily use one on a forum owner who is only it ifor the money.

    Ok, my turn.

My recent opinion of a certain forum administrator out there, which I hope Nick has had the pleasure of reading doesn't like suggestions, will delete your PM's sent to him and remove them from your tracker, he'll delete suggestion threads, will let trolling go on for hours, etc. That barely scratches the surface of it all too!
