Where to sell?

Hey there all of you here at Admin Addict,

I am here just trying to get your input and ideas of the best place to go to sell an ebook?!? Don't worry this is not another one of those SEO Tips, or Make Money Fast Now! ones that always seem to be floating around trying to earn people some money or rip you off your money while they continue to bombard you.

I am currently writing a Novel... I have been working on it for about 5 months and am nearing its completion - I have recently hired a proof-reader and editor to go through it one last time before it is finalised.

To give you a little background on it (without going into too much detail) and myself, I am a horror movie buff if it is meant to be scary I will watch it, I prefer the older movies over the newer ones as the older movies had class and are complete classics, while the new ones (for someone like me) are predictable, you know when something is going to happen, and know who the killer is early in the movie if it is meant to be a big twist at the end.

My novel is about 1000 pages (A4 size) and is my own "Horror" Book, it is about a guy who is so enthrawled in the Amityville Murders that he builds his own Amityville house in his neighbourhood after a failed attempt to buy the real one.

He tries to pass it off that it is haunted... and enlists ghost hunters to come and find evidence of "ghosts" and paranormal happenings... however obviously nothing happens as nothing has ever happened there it is a brand new house built to look like the Amityville House.

And after the Ghost Hunters say there is absolutly nothing there he decides to add the one thing to the house that is missing... the murder story and it's ghosts.

So he starts stalking people and murdering them inside the house to give the house the entities he claims are missing...

That is mainly the plot of the book I wont go into too much more details.

Obviously it is not something for everyone... however these types of stories do sell (in proper book stores etc) but I was wondering if there were any places on the internet you would recommend, or you know off that I would be able to sell this off at?

Even though here in Australia Halloween isn't big I am trying to have it all finalised - ebook format, and front covers all done to be launched on Halloween here in Australia (which would make it halloween eve in the states etc).

I was thinking I have a number of options to try and get online sales:
1) Find a place that I can upload and sell an ebook (I don't know what else to call it e-novel?)

2) Take the time to build my own website (as if I sell a couple copies I have left the book open to become a series) and sell it purely on there.

3) Sign up at a number of the paranormal, ghosts, crime sites that are out there on the internet try and get to know the owners etc and when the book is ready for sale try and get advertising on there (or even a build up to the release of it where snippets are released or something) and offer the owners of those sites commission on every e-book sold to members of their website.

What are your suggestions?!? I am open to all!!! :shrug:

 

I'm not really well versed in e-book publishing, but I believe a popular place for self-publishing/e-books is lulu.com. You would probably want to have a web site supporting it, any way you go.
