This may have fit better in Miscellaneous Discussion, but this does have to do with forums in general - move accordingly.

As the title says, what is your strong point while moderating or administrating a forum.

This means what do you do best; handle problematic users, back-end?

Me, well, I specialize in everything. However, I find that I do best while handling problematic users.

So you are an expert in promoting your community through sites such as Twitter and Facebook?

Front end and backend I guess, tho I think my strongest point is drawing people out once they've joined and getting them to let loose and have some fun.

    That's always good...

I try not to be too pushy. But being that I am a salesman, I get a little pushy and rather than getting people to stay active, I turn them away.

Well, I like a lot of the ideas I come up with. However, my weakness is the exact counterpart of my strong point, so to speak. I can never implement the majority of the visions I get because of my lack of coding/graphic skills. Overall, I'd say front-end stuff is my strong point.

I think my strong point is coming up with ideas. My weak point is finding time/money/skills to complete every one :)

Now I'd definitely say this is a great strongpoint. I usually find premade templates and edit them to my liking.

I think most people specialize in front-end stuff.

I'm with you on that one - I always have these awesome ideas but I can never put the money into it.

I may have to hire ya!

??? NO, those sites are junk for promotion. I deal in youtube, break, dailymotion, metacafe,,,,

I can post a video on youtube and it gets 10,000 views. Post the same video on myspace and it gets 10 views.

Keep a list or journal of those ideas, Tom. You never know when it will come in handy.

Metacafe seems like a great solution.

I used Metacafe when I first began the Official Blog of DT.

Some people say I have a knack for eloquently handling sensitive situations. Sometimes a crowd gets riled up about an idea - or someone's f aux pas - and I go in and defuse it.

I'm proud of my server security and optimization skills. I have a DOS-proof IPTables script and a limited ability to handle a DDOS should one occur, and root on my machines is fairly seriously protected. During peak days it - a dinky little Core2 Duo machine - fields over two million php calls and twenty-five million queries.

I'm a fairly good programmer, getting fed up with most forum software, as a rule, to be frank.

Weaknesses: Creativity (ideas), coding skills and design skills.

Strengths: Member- and inter-community relations; back-end administration; and taking action. I'm always doing something. I can't stand dormancy in terms of forum management. Ask Chris or Tyler, they'll tell 'ya - I'm usually always pressing for something to be getting done (I can't do it all - hence a three-man team). :giggle:

    Strengths:

    • Developing strong bonds with the community and/or memberbase (i.e. building relationships)
    • Content organization and management
    • Financially supporting and/or funding communities
    • Remaining active
    Weaknesses:

    • Coding
    • Design and/or modification of the visual appearance

We're quite the team, too. :D

Strengths: Getting stuff done in the backend, organization of forums and features. I absolutely love playing with admin panels (my favorite part of forums) and trying out new features.

Weaknesses: Knowing when I'm in over my head. I'll start moving too fast for myself, especially when I've got a few websites lined up.
