As the thread's title asks, what is the most unique forum genre you've heard of or come across.

Personally, the most odd genre I've come across is one about Flexifoil.

I'd say flashlights and laser pointers. Looking forward to hearing about even more unusual ones!

Castration - and I dont mean dogs either. The forum dealt with men that wanted to be castrated. Some of them had cancer and needed to be castrated, others wanted it to be submissive to their wives, others were just tired of the constant sex drive.

I thought it was a little strange for a man to want to have his nuts cut off. But what ever floats your boat.

I was also going to say Laserpointers but Flexifoil is even more odd.

I first saw the Laserpointer forum link being thrown around here.

I also think Garden's Cure is a bit weird. It's about growing marijuana. Isn't that, well, illegal?

    This is a bit weird.

Do you have a link to the forum about castration? I'd love to read thru some things.

A hair removal discussion community (i.e. removing nose hair) - the topics being discussed are easily some of the most disgusting I've read.

 - now that's a unique, also funny topic to be discussed!

What was the demographic, Chris? Do you know?

Depends. 13 states in the United States have medicinal marijuana laws which usually allow self-cultivation. According to this map:
File:World-cannabis-laws.png - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marijuana is legal or decriminalized in about 40% of the world and laws against it are unenforced in another 25% of the world. I know of a good dozen or so vBulletin customers who have forums on this subject. Probably a lot more.

Anyway, I know of a site about raising camelids (llamas, alpacas, camels) and another for transvestite escorts in Canada.

    Thanks for clarifying, Wayne.

So if the forum owner was living in a state where self-cultivation is legal, it would be okay to create the forum?

Google is your friend. I did not bookmark the site because I really did not want to go back. There were even videos and pictures, it was pretty freaking sick.

It's probably legal to discuss it anywhere. Discussion doesn't mean action or illegality.

    I own these two books:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Plants-Gods-Sacred-Healing-Hallucinogenic/dp/0892819790/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1246366149&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Plants of the Gods: Their Sacred, Healing, and Hallucinogenic Powers: Richard Evans Schultes, Albert Hofmann, Christian Rätsch: Books[/ame]
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-Psychoactive-Plants-Ethnopharmacology-Applications/dp/0892819782/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_b"]Amazon.com: The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants: Ethnopharmacology and Its Applications: Christian Ratsch, Albert Hofmann (Foreward): Books[/ame]

Just by owning them doesn't mean I am breaking the law. You'll find none of the plants listed in those books in my home. Though I can see Datura (Jimson Weed) growing in the field behind so its a freely obtainable hallucinogen.

I could legally open a forum today discussing all the different types forms of murder, how to dispose of the body, how to leave deliberate clues to mislead cops and so forth. It might not be responsible of me but its legal.

If we criminalize thought and discussion of subjects, than we're doomed as a society.

    Quoted for the truth.

    -

I think the oddest forum I've seen is the Laser Pointer Forum that was mentioned. I haven't checked out any of the ones you guys mentioned here though.

A lot of these odd ones are successful, so it proves that each subject has the opportunity to grow, no matter how odd.

I forgot to list another forum I rarely visit - Stile Project Forum <----- NSFW!!!!!!!

If it makes you sick or turns you on, its posted at Stile. Its not really an exact topic kind of forum, except for the strange and random pictures that are posted.

Some of the stuff posted in there, you just turn your head and say "wtfffffffff is that, they must have used a lot of k-y jelly to get that to fit."

    Its that type of forum.

Sounds like it's being used as a, uh, colorful metaphor, like obelisks.

Stile Project has its own page on wikipedia, does that tell you anything?

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stile_Project

Its a combination of a website, image gallery, video gallery and forum.
