I know it's in Alpha, but it feels like forever since a significant announcement was made, and the support forums have all gone a bit quiet. Any important new features that were just added? Any idea when it's actually going to be released?

It has been about 3 weeks since the last announcement. Even with that people complained because we made the announcement in the first place. You'll probably get another announcement when the Suite Alpha is released. Hopefully tomorrow. And then another when Beta is ready to release. No idea when it is going to be released. It will be released when it is ready. Not before. We have never let arbitrary dates dictate a new release in the past, not sure why people think we would start now.

Like Wayne said, it'll be a while before anyone sees it that isn't in the Beta or Alpha testing stages. Don't listen to what people predict, because generally they have no clue and are just trolling.

I'm pretty anxious for it myself, but patience is a virtue!

I just want to mess on with a test install first to get used to it as well as have a look at the templates too. I aint jumping in with a live install to be hit by the first wave of bugs but I am still looking forward to it loads.

I wish there were more preview images :D

Not much point atm, what you [would] see now is likely to change quite a bit before release.

This is an alpha/beta release. While it has indeed taken them a long time to get to this point, you have to expect that it's going to take time to get further.

As a developer myself, i don't envy the public criticism for taking their time, but as a consumer, the time that it has taken to even get to alpha stages, not good at all.

We won't know when vB4 is coming out until it comes out, and, honestly, while I'd LIKE to see it in the next year, not really thinking that's too much of a possibility, considering most of the long time devs have left the building.

No new features are being added in 4.0. If memory recalls only the sitemap is added. Features (forum wise) will be added in 4.1 etc.

Don't be too surprised if it's out by the end of the year. ;)

Just quoting this in case it get's buried. People seem to think there's going to be an abundance of new features added when they aren't. ;)

You are correct about that Shelley. They will be. Which is why I bolded the word few. :)
I'm fairly impressed by what I've seen, so far.

I'll bold the word one There's no new features added that I can see. Are you referring to the blog and cms as few?

edit: No offense peggy, but i think your too easily impressed. I think if you settle for something mediocre then that's what you'll receive.

Peggy has a little more access to see what is going on than you do. ;)

Not everything has been revealed in blogs and announcement posts. Though you are correct that the emphasis in this release is 1) the CMS and 2) getting content to play nice across the system.

oh my goodness, I didn't mean to start a ruckus here. Shelley, no I was not referring to the cms and blog at all, and I'm not "settling" for anything. :)

I'll refrain from saying anything more about vb4 from here on out. Sorry y'all. :(

Peggy, you didn't say anything so I'm unsure what your actually apologizing for. I was replying to the OP and possibly others that think there is going to be an abundance of features added when there's not. It's simple, simple as that, simple as a,b and c. The question or assumptions weren't replied to so I replied myself without the sugar coating and dangling of the worm on the hook reply, getting to the point so to speak.

Sitemap, That's it. And, if your expecting anything significant then you'll be disappointed untill releases after 4.0 simple as that. ;)
