    Participate in all of the threads that are started on your site, start as many new topics (that make sense and promote discussions) yourself and run a small contest or promote a feature that will prompt folks to participate in spending time on the site like a 'credits' contest (using vBcredits or a similar mod) where they can then 'buy' something for their hard work :)

    I have been a member of several forums and the contest do seem to bring in more people, who do in turn post alot to win the contest.

    I like to put stuff in front of peoples faces.

    Quiz videos work pretty good. Ill make a video, ask the people a question and let it go from there.
