vBulletin Release Candidate 4 has been released for download. The announcement is hidden within Don's blog: vBulletin 4.0 Release Candidate 4 Now Available! - Blogs - vBulletin Community Forum!

Not sure why it wasn't posted in the Announcements forum.

Probably because Kevin released it initially, and he doesnt tend to do announcements. I expect someone will formally post it.

I was wondering the same thing. I thought I read over the weekend that it was planned to be released on Monday. That never happened. They say vB.com was updated to RC3 yesterday, but they fixed several bugs rather quickly, so decided to just move on the RC 4 and release it today.

Kudos for quick bug-fixing, I guess.

Nothing, it was a vb.com only version (like RC 1).

I haven't bothered since beta 3, there aren't enough hours in the day.

Even on my test site I was tying myself in knots with it, I'm not even going to look at it until well after Gold.

Ditto. I haven't touched any of the 4.x releases at all. Never even downloaded one. :D

I downloaded them for collection purposes.

For years I've downloaded a new version the day its released, even if I don't plan on upgrading.

I've done it with several bulletin board systems. And I've been doing it for 6 years. :P

Same here. I'm going to wait until most of the paid mods that I have are upgraded to be usable with vB4.

    That's a bit sad :unhunh:

Looks like they are pulling all the stops out and rushing like mad now to get as much done as they can before the planned Gold release next week if you ask me. Skipping release versions, not installing the latest RC version on their own forums - sounds like their trying to save time and keep the Devs working hard on fixing bugs instead. Pretty obvious what's happening really if you ask me. Not a bad thing though!

At least it shows their main priority is fixing as many bugs as they can until Gold.

vB has to be smoking something. They're upping the numbers to make it seam like they're actually going through the release process. Most companies release a beta or RC then wait a while, say at least week for bug reports. They only release back to back if there is a show stopper or security bug.

I'm running the last released RC (RC 2?) on a dead test site. The rate their releasing just seems half assed and irresponsible. I won't run 4, if I decide to upgrade, on a production site until at least 2 patch after 4 is released.

I just got an email saying vB4 Gold is days away? Ha! How can they call it gold with so many open bug reports? Who's downloading and installing the first gold release?

I'm not running a live site on it, for sure. It's barely BETA condition, imo.
