Well since I don't know what the RSS feed to the vbulletin announcement forum, we have to enter these in manually.

So there was an official 5.x release from vBulletin.

What are your thoughts on it, is it ready to run on a site yet?

Not ready for primetime yet. I guess it's improving, but it's still got a long way to go.

    vBulletin 5 Security Patch: 502pl1 – 5/22/13

This patch addresses three important issues. All were found after the launch of 5.0.2.
    1. One fix corrects the importing of closed threads.
    2. Another fix addresses a potential infinite redirection loop that could possibly occur in the conversation route.
    3. A method was repaired when it was found to be vulnerable to a potential SQL Injection.
This patch affects only vBulletin 5.0.2. vBulletin 3, vBulletin 4, vBulletin 5.0.0 and vBulletin 5.0.1 are not affected.

It’s highly recommend you take advantage of this patch.

New downloads of vBulletin 5.0.2 (and beyond) include all these updates. There is no need to utilize the steps below if you downloaded vB 5.0.2 today after 3:30PM PT or beyond.

Just trying to make you laugh. :)

A lot of people take this stuff serious, me not so much.

I almost flipped you upside down though so as not to confuse people. :D

Anyways my avatar is back to me sitting at my desk at ESPN. :D

I found a nifty bug on vB.com the other day. As a regular member, not only can you see that a post comment was deleted, who deleted it and why, now you can see the deleted post comments too, if you press the show link.
    27.05.png

    Two things here.

Post comments are a fail to begin with. This bug only compounds the functionality's uselessness as a public discussion tool. That and the fact they screw up the last read post system and you basically loose content with them.

Secondly, IMHO this also shows again, vB5 is not stable software and shouldn't be used for live sites....at all.

Spam may have been the wrong word but we don't need regular users harassing other users or pretending to be moderators. What does it matter they replied to a month old thread? I don't recall this topic in particular but I have responded to old topics that were never answered if I ran across them in a Google search- because someday someone else will be looking for the answer and get there the same way I did.

I didn't really want to get into the subject of the posts in my screen shot. But it was Paul (a vB developer) who made the first month overdue and still unnecessary comment. The ensuing question was a valid one and instead of a simple apology from Paul(which I am sure the support person who deleted the post comment also didn't expect), the post comment from the customer was deleted. So in end effect Paul reigns supreme, can belittle customers, doesn't get his posts deleted or censored (when in some cases it would have been prudent), but customer's posts do? I guess it is just another sign of the vB times right now.

Can someone please go to that thread on vB.com that I made screen shot of and check if the post is still deleted? I just had some weirdness and I'd like to confirm it. Like Macsim said in another post. I broke the Internet. Lol!

    Steps to take.

    1. Go to this post.
    2. If it is still deleted. Click the "Show" link on the right.
    3. If you see the deleted post comment, click on the user's name and visit their profile.
    4. If you see the same post comment in the user's activity feed, do you also see the comment was deleted below it?
    5. Click on the "Go to post" link.
    6. Do you see the post comment is no longer deleted?

Either there is some screwy stuff going on with the varnish proxy at vB.com or the whole permission system for post comment deletions is wrecked.

    Strange....

Ok, so the comment was "undeleted". Well, then there are other serious issues with deleting and undeleting post comments.

See below. The search shows the comment is still deleted. Search for "Damlucy" to find his posts. (the search takes about 20-25 seconds to come up with results too, but says 0.00 seconds.).

    31.052.png

Damlucy's profile also shows the comment was deleted.

I hate to say it, but this just reeks of bad programming and back-end structure. Have fun posting Jiras, if you are so inclined to do so.:P

That is "0.00 seconds" in vB Time. It is like the "bullet time" effects from The Matrix where everything seems to slow down so on screen it might take 20-25 seconds for something that is really barely a second. :barefoot:

Oh... so in reality its really super fast. That's cool.

Maybe a blue pill will turn it into this reality.
