I may be, depending on if Wayne or someone else familiar with the Suite will answer my question in the other thread.

    I don't think they're over-reacting, just my opinion.

Anyway, I got tired of reading.

I wish the was not so many threads to sift through over there. I would have liked to have known how much they plan on charging between major releases now (ie v4 upgraded to v5, v5 to v6, ect..), or if they just plan to make up a price then.

I would also like to know if they will be doing a forum only license upgrade soon. Yes, they stated that active licenses can download the forum only, it will only last until the license was set to expire and I would have to purchase the forum only to continue to get v4 updates. If there is no upgrade to forum only like there is to suite, can I purchase suite and download forum only. I don't want extra code and files to keep track of.

If anyone happen to have read through all the fluff over there and knows the answers, feel free to share.

Still undecided if I will upgrade past 3.x, but would be nice to have that option.

I will take a serious look at the suite. Will it look like the forum, or a real website? Will it look like a VB Advanced clone, or a real website with articles, tags, videos, images,,,,,

Right now I am using wordpress for my articles section. To switch from wordpress to the VB suite, that suite will need to offer some improvements over wordpress.

The new Suite will definitely impact those that have already configured their sites w/ addons or bridges for sure. I don't blame people on those boats for feeling some angst going forward -- either don't change things or do an overhaul. May be a dumb analogy, but you just bought a brand new car (based on features you wanted/anticipated), then next month or w/e instead of improving on that line....it's scrapped and updated completely.

Right now, I'm in a good seat I think. I only have a forum owned license (July). So I can take the next couple weeks to see if I do indeed want the Suite or just move to the new v4 forums prior to license expiration.

I'm suspecting most here are not sole vB forums club.

I am interested to see how the upgrade/purchase experiences go.

I'm seriously considering getting the license for the suite for one site, it's just that it's a lot of money...

=\ I'm annoyed with IPB that I can't find answers for what I want because they don't have an adequate feature list for each package.

    Anyways, on topic:

I'm not a vB user, but I do follow up vB a lot.
People wanted a change on the ugly skin, they got it, still ugly? I really think it's a change.

Please tell me a Forum software site which will take their time to build a CMS and a Blog addon to work in synchronization? Basically they're giving you the chance to configure the skins easier which is something most people are always going "Ugh is there a way to make my CMS skin be like my Forum" or vice versa with the blog too.

If I am not wrong, [last time I heard because in the IPB site you can't find ANYTHING about the features/what each package has], you have to purchase the IP. Blog, IP. Gallery, IP. Content and another IP. thing separately when you buy the Standard License, which is for $149, and if you want it all included you have to pay $295 for the Business Package. And if I have my information wrong, do not blame me, I TRIED to do my research but I saw nothing about the features of each individually.

Anyways, now, vB has an album gallery and I am sure there will be a plugin on vB.org to extract those images and integrate them[usually free], pretty much the Standard License in IPB is just reducing the cost of the gallery, and yes not many people use it, but for those who do? $149 + $64.99 =$213.99 And if you want the blog and CMS image gallery and all? $298.99.

Now, I have nothing against IPB, but :S idk, it's just bananas that people are getting mad.

And actually if you look at the current IPB community skin it looks similar to vB's, just some things changed, and it's still to huge for me, nothing you can't change with editing the theme, no?

    x.x Just my opinions, sorry.

vB does not have an album gallery, nor a gallery. Nothing even close to a gallery.
It's a simple personal profile album, same thing that's on this site. A little re-worked, but basically the same.

I think people are more upset that they're being asked to preorder and prepay, without having anything to look at, no demo, screenies, etc. They did manage to get some screenies up last night. But the uproar hasn't died down much yet.

It's all about greed. The people who work for "vbulletin solutions". People are forced to renew a license to get a discount for a product they have not even tested or had a good look at. We are graced with a few screenshots, which doesn't give anybody anything and although I have tried and tested the new forum personally i think it's nothing special I'm sure other people would have liked to test drive the product(suite) before hand. Try before you buy.

Vbulletin solutions is a far cry from the company it used to be. Sure profit has to come into it but when you force renewals befor anyone has a chance to even try and test it is showing your customers you don't care.

It's quite funny really. A jelsoft staff member created a thread about community collaboration on the free scripts on vbulletin.org yet when it comes to a collaborative effort on the product (even for beta) they are pushed aside. It's another instance of vbulletin solutions asking for a community collaborative effort when they want it and when they don't you are not worth the shit off the shovel.

Personally, I far from caring but i see many customers that do care and want the basics eaxample, actually try the product. well, I'm sure the employees will be enjoying the incentives from the loyal customers over the years. I laugh just as much as they are probably behind their screens. Words mean nothing whomever cares to respond it's actions that matter. Look forward, I guess not.

Hi, may I just point you in the right direction? :)

Our main product's splash page is here: IPS, Inc. - Products (Click on the word 'Products' in the header).

The community suite (IP.Board, IP.Blog and IP.Gallery is $249.99) and the optional 6 monthly support, service and downloads renewal is just $25. The renewal is optional and it does not affect the operation of your board. You can let the renewal lapse and renew at any time without penalty.

If you wanted CMS-like capability, then you'd also need our IP.Content product. More information is available here: IPS, Inc. - IP.Content
This is currently on offer for $34.99.

It's also worth mentioning that with a standard and business license, you also get access to our spam monitoring service. Again, this is optional but it's a real life saver if you are troubled by human spammers on your board. More information on that is here: IPS, Inc. - Spam Monitoring Service

Finally, we will install the community suite or board for you at no extra cost. You also get one upgrade free of charge.

We're constantly evolving our site and I'll take your feedback on board and see if we can find ways to make the information clearer. As always, you can use our pre-sales forum or our email address, here: IPS, Inc. - Contact Us

Thanks! Many people just don't like to e-mail[like me] just to know the different features of each package. In vB I could find it easily, maybe add more questions to the F.A.Q? This might help people who are thinking of getting a license. ;)
