I know it's been explained sometime somewhere and I've even read it. But I have lost the picture as to what needs to be done to fix the colors that break when upgrading to vb4. And/or links to the simple explanations that I'm sure have been posted on the vb forums.

I gather that a particular color code format needs to be used. Anyone know the details?

Those who have fixed their styles for vb4, what exactly did you do? To what extent did you restore your old scheme vs just go with a new scheme and tell your users it was part of the upgrade? :)

    Thanks!

You pretty much have to start from scratch and try to recreate the look and feel of your old style using the new system.

Good luck with that, it ain't easy!

Then on the next upgrade be ready because the merge template system sucks.

Remember that an official announcement on vbulletin said that the stylevar design can be changed more intensive until 4.0.2. That may also a reason why professional designers are more conservative in publishing their vbulletin 4 designs now: With each - also minor - release they have to take care of design compatibility.

All due respect and all that ... er, anyone have an answer to the question? What color codes can be used with the vb4 style?

Are the above answers saying that the colors can't be modified? Not sure I really think that's so ... but dunno.

As to color codes you can use your more familiar format #FFFFFF or #FFF (short version of some colors). But I think you're referring to the more color specific rgb (255, 255, 255) that you can use. Which I believe vB4 defaults too now. It gives a more detailed color value.

The short version was actually inherited on the upgrade from 3.8, some colors work and some don't. OK, will try the alternate version you have indicated.

    Thank you so much June!

You're welcome. I like the rgb method as it gives more control over the true color instead of web colors.
