vB 4 style for 3.8

Somebody created a vB 4.0-like style for 3.8 based on the preview screenshots from vBulletin.com.
I thought some of you would really like it, and I'd like to see it in action on some more sites, perhaps customized a bit.

It's nice to get a preview "feel" for it. I think it will turn out to be great... at least much better than the current default.

 

Needs new status icons.

Maybe that's why some people are excited about this skin; apparently it has the ability to suspend time!

Close approximation but doesn't give the right feel. It would work for people that don't upgrade though. I am sure it will be updated when they can see vB4 working.

I don't like it. There are no defining areas it's like a blank canvas with text. But then this is a pre-wip for a style that is a w.i.p about a software that we know nothing about. Hopefully, some revamping will be made or better still get some advice from the ipb guys on how to create a half decent style for vbulletin and a GDK.

I said it at the org, I wouldn't expect 4.0 visuals to be anything special. infact, free based boards do a better job (mybb for example) use good colour coordination, that's my tip of today for the 4.0 graphic gurus (oh, and to slice the gdk).

 

I just found MyBB Transparency Pack and buttons PSD files... they are pretty damn awesome, easy to change too. Using gradients that are easy to change.

 

I'm jealous. hopefully we'll be graced with the same user friendliness by jelsoft with the upcoming GDK.

Do all the images reside on one psd/source file FMB for the mybb pack? And are they sliced? I'm quite curious how they did it. I might wander over there.

It has the PSD for the buttons and for the logo, you had to use Gimp??

 

this template has some errors but he has some other great designs over there that i have looked into - it's a shame people who do graphics forget some of the most basic buttons that many use:

eg: Thanks / Groan/ Nominate and also Post to Blog that little guy vb have is quite annoying and always looks out of place.

Would also like to end up seeing some custom images for the blog coming in - oh well I am sure they will in the future.

 

Merk_aus - I haven't purchased the blog I think it's one of those useless jelsoft scripts that distract people from the forum but if you have the time to post all the blog icons and buttons I will add specific images and icons for the vb blog.

 

Will vB4 be tabbed like that design?

 

Do you mean the context sensitive highlighting in the top navigation?

Yes, vBulletin 4 will have that. It is not really tabs though because clicking on them forces a new page to reload whereas tabs should simply switch to the new content without an apparent page reload.
