    Hi folks,

I'm looking for hints and tips and the best way to buy another forum.

How do you actually establish how much a forum is worth?

Once you've agreed on price what's the best way to facilitate the transfer. Do you sign contract ect.

I've never done this before and would be really interested and people past experience and the best way to go about it?

I don't think there is a way to really say how much a forum is, when buying a forum i ask how much the owner thinks it's worth, then i'd look at content, active members. then you give a price how much you think it's worth.

As for buying, signing a contract would require you two meet up really, how hard is it for someone to sign a fake contract with you over the internet? not very.., i'd take a look at his board first, put his username in google, see what other sites hes registered at. If you can see he is actually genuinely selling a board, then no contract would be needed.

I recently just bought a board, but i knew the owner could be trusted, so no contract or anything was needed, paypal was sent, domain was transferred & backups and files were sent. Just make sure you do a background check first.

I value a forum by the amount of traffic it's receiving daily and how much revenue it's earning monthly. I'll also take a look at the number of posts, members, and how much general forum activity is going on, as that's also a contributive factor to a forum's value.
